Tire cleaner / rim cleaner questions

I'm about to go pick up some cleaning stuff and was wondering what rim cleaners/polishes do you use and what do you use on your tires? I have polished rims on the Cobra. Any good ideas? Anything to stay away from? I haven't found anything that I like yet and am open to suggestions.

Don't use anything but soap and water on the wheels if they are clear coated. If they are polished and no clear coat at all I would just clean them and use some of that Extreme wadding to polish them back up. On clear coated wheels that I have had I just wash them and put a light coat of wax on them. Kind helps keep the brake dust from sticking so well. As for the tires I use Comet or Ajax with a small brush. ***Make sure you don't touch the wheels with the brush when it has Comet on it because it can scracth them. Usign a brush with Comet on the tires removes that brownish look tires get after a while. It makes them look real black again then I just use Armor All or something on them after that. That's just what I do and it looks great.

Thumbs up

I agree w/Colby, soap and water for the wheels. I use Black Magic Tire Wet for the tires but found some really good stuff. Meguiar's makes a tire gel that blows away the stuff i've been using. http://www.meguiars.com.au/ameguiars_retail2.htm

This stuff last a long time and just looks better.

stay away from that black magic! it looks good the first day you put it on. after that it starts to collect dust like crazy!! armour all will shine just as good! it's all about getting the tires very clean before hand!
