SPEEDFEST 2002 Coming February 9

Texas Motorplex, AutoRama and KLUV Oldies Radio 98.7 are bringing one of the hottest events to the cold month of February with SPEEDFEST 2002. This event will feature four racing classes and is looking for the fastest import and domestic street cars in Texas, and it will also showcase the baddest Oldies Nostalgia cars.

SPEEDFEST 2002 will also feature some of the top names in NHRA Sportsman Drag Racing behind the wheel of 5-second 270 mile per hour Top Alcohol Dragsters and Top Alcohol Funny Cars in a special match race.

Fastest Street Car
These two categories will run heads up, no breakout, on a pro tree start. Domestics will run domestics, and imports will run imports. After a winner is determined in each class, the champion import and domestic driver will run off for the true Fastest Street Car Grand Champion. All cars must be street legal, tagged and inspected on D.O.T. tires.

The winner of each street car class will win $200 and will be displayed at the AutoRama the weekend of February 15, 16, &17. Prize money is dependent on displaying at AutoRama.

Nostalgia Street
This category is for 1971 and older model cars that are street legal, tagged and inspected, using D.O.T tires. This will be run heads up, no breakout, on a pro tree.

The winner of the Nostalgia Street class will receive $200 prize money (dependent on display at AutoRama). The winnig car will be showcased at AutoRama February 15, 16, & 17.

Nostalgia Hot Rod
This is an ET bracket racing class for vehicles 1971 and older. This will be run on a handicapped 5/10ths tree with dial-ins. Cars must be full fendered, door cars. This one is for the true racer. Purse will be dependent upon number of entries and display at AutoRama, February 15, 16, & 17.

SPEEDFEST 2002 will also include open time trials for racers.

SCHEDULE & PRICES

Gates Open…….9:00am
Time Trials………10:00am
Eliminations……..1:00pm
Top Alcohol Cars….1:00pm, 3:00pm, & 5:00pm

Racer Entry: $25
Spectator Entry: $8

All NHRA rules will be in effect. All cars must go through technical inspection. Drivers running 13.99 and quicker are required to have a helmet.
