They are not even a wild card team anymore??? I know they have been playing bad, but aren't they still in the wild card race?

New York and Boston both clinched playoff spots, meaning one would get the wild card and the other would take the division. Texas can't gain 3 games on both Anaheim and Oakland to win the West because they play each other the last three games, and one of the two is going to gain at least 1 game on the other.
The Rangers' season in a nutshell: A good effort but too many blown opportunities.

Coming in third in your division, regardless of how good the top two teams are, isn't a great season. It's just moving up one spot from last. I said it was a good season, better than expected, but it was a little short of being great.
