What's a good beginner bike?
I'm not looking for a R1 or a Gixxer, so those comments aside.
I'm just researching my options here, and I"m not sure what to go with. I'm going to take a riders course when I'm ready. And when I'm finally licensed, I'm gonna get a bike. What would be a good bike? Something that's not very expensive, and fairly to fix or replace parts on.

honestly man it depends.....Some people say this and some people say that...my first bike is the bike I have my 03 R6 ..bought it brand new never rode a bike before that ...I love it .....if you are scared to death to ride..i would go to a dealer ship and get a used on first....around 3 - 4 grand will get u a decent 600cc bike...that way u wont worry if u drop it ..cause man no doubt u will drop it ..it happens to everyone sooner or later

yeah, that would be the best way to go. get an older 600 to tide like a '99 or '00. IF thats still too much, look for a Ninja 500 or an SV650.

Beginner Bike
I have enjoyed my Suzuki GS500. I ride with guys with R1's and GSXR-1000's. I keep up just fine.

also it depends on your ability to control yourself. if you are the type to go out and drive like a bikerboy wannabe then you may want to consider a 250 ninja. on the other hand if you have self control, a sv650, f2 or f3, or any other 600 would be fine for you.

Yeah, I do have a pretty good grip on myself. I guess I didn't want to spend thousands of dollars for I bike I may trash. But I may just look at some '99-'00 600's. Any suggestions within that group?

well, i'd certainly recommend NOT thinking you're going to trash it.
but here are a few that i would've looked into, if i had little riding experience Yami R6/FZ6 either of these would be great bikes, with the FZ6 being the naked, more comfortable, and the R6 being faster/handling better Suzuki SV650s Alot of people have these bikes and are very fond of them from what i've seen Honda 599- I personally think this and the 919 look tough as hell for naked bikes, but NO fairing is available, so it'll be windy. Honda 600F3/F4 as everyone else has said would be a good choice as well. adam |

Is there any way you can get an f3/f4 or maybe an older srad gsxr or even a carbed r6 and finance it?? I don't have money saved, but I have a job and can afford a payment, I'm just in college so money isn't just sitting in the bank!
![]() I could probably even put a decent down payment on one (like ~$7-800) in a month or so, just don't really have the guts to buy a brand new bike. Anyone know a good used bike dealer? Thanks, Kyle

Used Bike Shop
Full Boar Cycles in Hurst sometimes has some good Honda's, Yamaha's and Suzuki's mixed in with the HOGS.

99-02 R6 is plenty fast for a 1st bike, but it could be managed; cool thing is you'll likley be happy w/ it long past the learning stage. These make about 100HP to the rear wheel, some higher some lower depending on mods. Bike is very light, easy to steer and has great style. They can be had for a great price nowadays (maybe 3500-5500). Great looking, riding, reliable bike for the money.
I ride a 01 r6
