Motorcycle death!!!

Taylor Scott Luther....

One of my best friends was killed on his motorcycle Monday morning. The accident happened in Royse City Sunday night at 7:30. He was care flightewd to Parkland where he died later that night at 3:30 Monday morning.

Police estimated that he was going around 125 when he wrecked. He was passing a car and got over a little too far to the side of the road and hit some rocks, which made him go into the grass. From the looks of it, he tried to get control but couldn't till he hit a hole. He flipped the bike front to back and side to side with him still holging on. He ended up in a creek where he was hurt badly. There was a off duty police officer following behind him who saw the whole accident. Care filght was there 8 minutes after the accident and took him to Parkland where they immediately took him into surgery. He was in critical condition with 99% chance of living. He suffered from 2 broken legs, broken arm, collapsed lung, internal bleeding, and a punctured liver. After all of that, the doctors decided that the medicine was going to stop working and there was really nothing left to do.

For those of you who might know him, his name was Taylor Luther. He was a police officer for the city of Heath and was only 21 and grew up in Quinlan. Loved by all and will be greatly missed. Please pray for the family. They are having a very hard time. And please pray for us friends that we can get through this.

Just a reminder for those of you who have motorcycles...
Please be careful. What you do that isn't smart isn't worth your life. Being dangerous could at one point not only hurt you but the people that love you. So please be careful and ride smart.

Heath mourns officer's death
By Milton Babb/Herald-Banner Staff

Wednesday, September 8, 2004 1:30 AM CDT

Heath police and firefighters are mourning the death of Heath Department of Public Safety Officer Taylor Luther, 21, following a fatal one-vehicle motorcycle accident Saturday along Farm Road 548. The accident occurred near a "double-S curve" just south of Interstate 30 near Royse City.

"He had a great sense of humor, was eager to learn and had the respect of all his officers and fellow workers," said Sgt. Scott Trammell with Heath PD. "He did a unbelievable job and we will miss him terribly."

Luther suffered numerous injuries in the accident which occurred at approximately 6:37 p.m. A CareFlite helicopter was requested and arrived at the scene moments later, and Luther was flown to Parkland Hospital where critical medical treatment was rendered, but the officer was pronounced dead at 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Luther had been with the Heath PD slightly more than one year. He was one of 17 officers in the department including four reserves.

Luther was recently involved in a multi-agency police chase of a DWI suspect along Interstate 30 that ended in Greenville after tires on the suspect's car were spiked twice. He was the arresting officer in that incident which ended without injuries.

"He also distinguished himself recently in local drug arrest," Trammell said.

Prior to his service with Heath PD, Luther was employed by the City of Heath Public Works Department. He was a certified as a career firefighter, police officer and as an Emergency Medical Technician.

The Heath PD characterized him as energetic, an outstanding public servant and favorite among the citizens of Heath.

Officer Luther was the son of Diane Archer and husband Jerry of Poetry and of Scott Luther and wife Tish of Dallas. He is also survived by grandparents Ed and Kathleen Nevels of Rockwall, grandmother Bettye Mayhall; brothers Matt Luther of Poetry and Jerry Lloyd Archer of Rockwall; a sister, Justine Luther of Dallas and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall. Interment will be at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel, 2500 Highway 66.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Fallen Firefighters Memorial Foundation, P.O. Drawer 498, Emmittsburg, Md. 21727.

that is sad...21 is just way too young to die! i'm really suprised that a police officer would ride that fast, though, considering that they see the aftermath from others that do. of course, i've seen tons of doctors that smoke, so i guess it's just one of those things...

Those curves in the country will get you. I did the same thing a few weeks ago, only thing is I was only going about 40-45 MPH when I went off road and landed in about 2 ft of grass for cushion. Some turns are much sharper than they appear.

R.I.P. Fellow rider.......

Well, he was all about having fun... and having a little too much fun cost him his life. Not all police officers go by all the laws too. They are just like all of us. I have seen it myself. I went to the river this weekend with 2 guys and they are police officers and they were drinking and driving at the same time. So that shows you right there that they all do something that they shouldn't.

All I ask of everyone who rides is to please be careful. Life is too short. Just remember all the people who love and care for you before you decide to do something stupid. You are not the one who has to deal with everything after you die... it's your family and friends. So please be safe out there and drive responsibly.
