Unhappy Motorcycle insurance....OMG???????

Been looking at the 04 CBR 1000RR.......already talked to a guy in finance. So i called Gieco today, "who i already have 3 cars insured with " to get a quote for this motorcycle.......these fools told me it was 5500 a year, thats comes out to like 450 a month for insurance, I almost dropped the phone.

I'm 33yrs old, married, w/ no moving violations in the last 5-6 yrs.

Is this right?...If so how in the hell does anyone afford to ride a bike? alot of the ppl i see w/ sport bikes are younger than myself , I think.......so their insurance would be more i would guess......Is this right?....if so , I guess its NO bike for me

Geeezzzzz

I always heard to call around and get different quotes.
My fiances little brother just got a 04 GSXR 1000 and he only pays $55 a month for full coverage, of course his older sister works for state farm.

I got quoted a while back and it was about $100 full coverage. I'm only 20 and had a speeding ticket on my record at the time.

I use Progressive, and since my 3 Mustangs are also insured with them I only pay $210. per year full coverage.
But I am old (44), and don't have any tickets on my record.
Still, a figure in the thousands seems absurd.
I have a brother that pays $55. per month, and that's after he totals a bike every year or so.
(Mines only a 640, but his is a BMW 1100)

I can tell you right now some of these guys are not being completely honest. Location, who's name is it under, and some of you might want to check to make sure you have full coverage or liability or liability and comp, cause there is a huge difference in full coverage and the liability prices. I got quoted around $4000.00 a year for full coverage and ended up going with liability only, at $70.00 per year. I am not paying for another bike every 2 years. That's rediculous. I also keep mine locked up in the garage and we have video and live security where I am.

Bullshit. I am being honest. It's under my name, COMPLETELY covered. Give State Farm a call and you'll see. I was not a believer either until I called. 972-771-6234

Well the salesman at the suzuki shop says that suzuki doesn't require full coverage on the bikes that they finance through suzuki.........looks like a gixxer it is, need to look into that alittle more though.

It could have to do with the fact that you are dealing with a brand new model bike...and i know parts are $$$ for those things right now.

I'd go with liability and theft, and if you total it let me know

What dealership? Check out Plano Kawasaki/Suzuki/Aprilia. Jason Storm is one of the head salesmen up there and he's always taken care of me. I know they dont finance directly through suzuki b/c of the interest rates suzuki charges. They use Household Retail (or somethin) and they require full coverage for anything financed over $10k. But if you can keep the financing under that you can walk in and out with liability only and be done with it.
