Reality check this weekend

Well @ 4:00 un the morning on our way home from a concert we happened to come across a motorcycle wreck. I saw some debris in the road and thought nothing of it till I saw a bike about 20 ft ahead. When I looked back I realized it was a body in the middle of the road. We turned around and blocked off traffic and of course called 911. I stayed with the guy who was in extreme pain and trying desperatly to keep breathing. The ambulance got there and assesed he had major head trauma and a broken arm at least. Seems he was traveling north and hit a curb going through a corner and was thrown about 30 yards. I though I had saved the guiys life but found out he passed early yesterdat morning!

Guys he wasnt wearing hi shemet and would probably be here if he was. I tend to want to keep it off when riding at times also but this sure does want to make me think twice from now on. RIDE SAFE

I can't beleive people I still see people ride without a jacket, much less a helmet
I don't get on my seat without a helmet.

Hats off to for stopping.....so many people would not.

I just wish these guys who dont wear gear would have seen what I did this weekend. It really does put you in a state of mind to think about how lucky we are everyday to be here!

I am pretty tired of seeing all the guys in cut shirts and shorts, no helmet.

Some of them have sandals on.

Dont even get me started about the passengers.

I dont even feel comfortable on a bike unless I at least have a helmet jacket and gloves.

At a race , I am not going down the track unless theres an ambulance sitting
at the other end of it......period.

GT, I am sorry that happened and that you had to deal with it. Mostly I am sorry that the rider needlessly put his life on the line by riding without a helmet.
I hear people make excuses why they dont like to wear a helmet, not one of them makes any sense to me.

Such a waste.

Guess it takes a hard lesson before som epeople will learn helmets are made for a reason. most of the time there might not be a second chance and that is hurting many people other than yourself. I mean I didnt even know this guy and I keep having flashbacks picturing him in my mind..getting sick feeling in my stomach. Hell i usually ride in the moring upi tp the store to get a newspaper and come home before I head to work and didnt even wanna get on the bike this morning. Its just plain sad

No more like maybe 30 seconds to a minute. the bike was still smoking wher antifreeze had spilled onto the pipes yet stoppped smoking about a minute after we saw it.

I have contacted the family today. Apparently the guy has two daughters 3 and six I told the wife if there was anything we could do for her to let us know. i really feel for her man. A simple fix and she wouldn't be alone right now!
