Stunters: I need advice (clutching)
I never thought this many people knew how to do this shit. So with all the posts lately of people learning how, I decided (at 2:15am to keep safe w/ no traffic) to go learn. I got out on the highway and tried to clutch up 2nd. I tried and tried, but only got it to jerk me back. Maybe 1 or 2 times I got the front wheel up a few inches, but thats about it. What Im doing right now is getting it up to ~9k and pulling the clutch in while giving it like 1/4-1/3 throttle because it goes to redline so fast, and then dropping the clutch back out. But as soon as i drop it, the tach just goes right back down to 9.5-10k and i just ride out and hardly anything happens.
Right now all i have is an M4 can. Stock gears, stock filter, stock everything. Im 6'2 200lbs. Any advice? |

2ng geard ~6500-7k rpm (~55mph)...clutch in, tach the piss out of it AND slip the clutch in one single motion. Sit UP on the bike, you dont neccasarily have to sit at the back of the seat, so much, as making sure you dont have all your weight over the bars. It's kinda hard to type out how to clutch it up, but once you get it ONE time, you will learn so much from the first time that you wont need any more advice. just keep practicing and remember its all in the throttle/clutch timing.

What size bike do you have? On my 929 I am able to bounce it while standing up at about 40-45 in second. The way I do it is get in second at about 40-45, stand up, lean forward a little roll off the throttle for a spilt second and then back into the throttle hard all in one smooth motion. Kind of hard to explain? If you have a 600 it's a little more difficult but can be done without clutching. If you want we can meet up sometime and I'll show you? Be safe.

I did my first clutch wheelie in second last night. I took it to about 9k and slipped clutch for a brief second then hard in the gas and it got up to about 3 feet and i just let off of it cause I havn't mastered the balancing and riding it. I can ride them through first though but those don't last very long.

you are clutching it at too high of RPM's.... clutching up wheelies is meant to be done at lower rpm's than bouncing and hammering throttle..... that away you can ride them longer.... i used to clutch up my old 6oo cbr f3 in 2nd gear at about 4500 rpms.... try it lower in the rpm band but you need to be comfortable bouncing 2nd gear first.... you need to be able to handle the bike once you get it up there.....

It's easy to get a 600 up in 2nd gear. Stand your ass up and don't be scared. Hit the throttle, get off, then back on hard as you pull up with your arms. EASY.

This might sound gay but.....
When i was just learning to get wheelies up, "stand ups, sitdowns anything like that" I would always go and find videos of people doing it. I would DL video's of people doing whatever it was that i was wanting to do. I'd watch them over and over and over again. Listening to what the bike sounded like. trying to watch their hands, foot positon stuff like that. Again... as gay as it sounds... It really helped me alot, and it still does. www.uponone.com <----- really good source of videos for whatever it is you might be wanting to try.
