This sounds interesting... Are you able to paint helmets and how are your graphic skills? I've seen some of the body work you've done. I'm sorting interested in getting my helmet painted as well just don't want to pay anything outrageous. Also, anyone have any ideas as to if this will make the helmet any "less" safe?

I can do basic designs and if you give me an idea of what you want I will know right away if I am capable or not. Like I've said before, I am in no way an expert, but I like doing it and am halfway decent at it. Just PM me or post up some ideas. I may even be able to PS some stuff first if you can be descriptive enough or showing me would be even better.

you guys supply the paint and I'll probably do them for like $30 or so if it's not an outrageous design.

Wouldn't be difficult at all. Things I'm not very good at would be skulls, and free hand type airbrushing... not yet anyway.

Jose, did you see my helmet thread in the pic forum? I apologize for not answering your safety question earlier, but I see no reason why it would make the helmet any less safe. I'd just be sanding it down a little, respraying it, and throwing on some clear coat.

I'd like to do something like this but with a with a few custom touches. Shoei and Yamaha no longer offer this helmet and the paint scheme matches my R6 perfectly.

I'll have to meet up with and talk over the details of it. Plus I want to get a backup helmet for now. My thing is that my current Arai helmet doesn't match perfectly. I'm happy with the scheme on it but I'd like the red to match up better.

a good helmet paint job isnt going to be cheap. a lot of my car racing buddies have custom paint jobs on their helmets. i think the cheapest job was 400$. and it wasnt that great.

i have asked a few locals about painting helmets. joe martin said hell no (he did the graphics on my dragster). he does not like painting helmets

there is a few good web sites out there about painting helmets. a lot of do's and don'ts. have to be very careful with the internals. a lot of solvents do bad things do the internals. i will look for some links when i get home tonight.

i am also trying to paint a "test helmet" i hate taping it off.. ugh

uh yeah, I meant $300... not $30

can you post up a site or two once you get to them? I am curious now, especially about the chemicals. To this point I have only done crap helmets (they turned out good, but I didn't have too much to worry about messing them up)

Thanks

how are you going to mess up the internals when you take the internals out?

don't know about the street bike helments but you can replace the foam in a dirtbike helment.... so you can remove all the foam and stuff that they are worried about fuckin up... very curious to see where they talk about that though.

not quite the same thing, pretty sure it has something to do with the DOT crap, and why you can't use a dirtbike helmet on the street

so an orange(like the color on the bike) helmet with black tribal?

thats an awful small pic. I can probably paint it better than PS it with the pic provided I will have to get back with you on price. I have to research this safety issue a little bit more first.

SC, thanks for posting those up

here is my first one in case you didn't already see it
