Since JC got the first post period, I will get the first one with a purpose other than to post whore.

What kind of bike(s) do you have and how long have you been riding?

The best way to learn to ride is to get an older, used, and cheap 600cc bike of some kind for your first. If you start out on an R1, chances are you will end up hurting yourself and/or tearing up a brand new bike.

My R1 is my first bike, period. I know what I have between my legs. I treat it very nice.

do the 600's with exhaust on them sounds realgood? i heard a pack last nite going down some country roads by the driving range i was at. its quiet out there so you could hear the bikes and listening to that exhaust when they opened it up sounded good...but i dunno if they were 600's or liter bikes?

It's really hard to tell, especially from a distance.

I have a KTM 640 Adventure.
Had a licence for 28 years.
I wanted a bike I could play with rather than just ride on the street.
I do use it for my daily commuting. (35 miles each way, into Mexico)
Oh, it's the Silver and Orange one.

Talking

Before (first) and after (second) 3rd is for chuck...yes I can stunt too no wheelie pics though

Its all apart, and probably wont be going back together until i can get a 1000 frame and motor for it, then i'll keep the 750 plastics for it.

oooorrrrr

I'm gonna put it back together as a 750 and make it a track bike, cause i'd really like to get INTO road racing and OUT OF street riding..

Oh, it's the Silver and Orange one.
Wow! Welcome to the board! Didn't realize we had someone from down South. I'd love to get a dual purpose bike and do some cross country riding. I was reading in another forum about a group of guys that went cross country on some old trails there were used by earlier settlers travelling west. They had a bunch of pictures and I thought it was cool as shit to go riding like that and having to camp out at night. Not sure how the manged fuel though but I'm guessing the planned there stops around small towns or something.

I was out your way a few weeks ago for my uncles funeral and got to take a different route than I normally do but the highway escapes me at the moment. Normally I would take 35 all the way down to Laredo and then 83 down to Roma. Stay cool down there.

i completely agree. their drivetrain is top of the line, but the styling is horrible. white wheels are absolutely awful( i know they no longer have them) and a mono headlight is plain

03 R6 here... Black with candy apple red flames, slammed about 1/2 inch off the ground with a few goodies... I love how light and nimble it is, and it sounds f-in bad ass for a lil 600...

Oh been riding for about 4 months, this is my first bike to ride and to own.

Not too many people will agree with you!! Gixxers outsell all other sportbikes 3 to 1!!!!
I had a 750 with the white wheels and I thought it was pretty sharp. Just a pain to keep clean

Not sure how the manged fuel though but I'm guessing the planned there stops around small towns or something.
Thanks.
Mines stock with a 7.4 gallon tank, so I've got 330+ mile range. Fuel has never been a problem. One of my brothers bikes, also pictured, a BMW has a 10 gallon tank.
I've been riding long enough that I know Cruisers look great, but they're not good for much more than that. Sportbikes perform better than 95% of their owners have any business playing with, so I found and am sticking with my "niche", the Dual Sports. So much fun to be able to play off road.
