plug gapping? bigger gap=hotter spark

The setup:302,stock heads, B-cam,1.7RR, TF Street intake, 70mmTB,75mm Maf, Msd Ignition Box, MSD blaster coil, and exhaust.

Right now I'm using ASF-42P Motorcraft Platinum's, and I have no idea where to gap them at.

I read a MM&FF mag a while back where they installed an ignition system on a stock 5.0 and said they were gapping the plugs a bit larger than stock(0.54), to take advantage of the hotter spark.

Does that sound at all correct?
I'm not to sure what to gap them at, especially when I here people talking about gapping their plugs between the 0.30's and 0.40's.

Let me know what you guys are gapping you're plugs at as well as your recommendations, thanks.

If your running an aftermarket ignition you open up the gap a bit

I agree. With no power-adder and an aftermarket ignition you should be able to go with a pretty wide gap without it getting "blown out".

In a N/A setup, with an aftermarket ignition you're safe with .060.
