I don't know what weighting scale they were using, but it sure as heck wasn't anything close to being a legit reading. I'm not trying to knock your system (others have already done that damage), but with all due respect, you didn't hit a legitimate 155 with only two 10's. They might have changed the weighting on the meter that day or the meter was broken. Either way, don't walk into IASCA finals and say "I hit 155 with two tens" lest you get laughed out of the building.

By the way - who the heck buys and EQT and backs it up with Radio Shack tweeters? You can try to convince me all you want that they sounded worth a crap, but even with heavy equalization they're still $20 tweeters at the end of the day.

Yeah, and I bought some Pep-Boys tires and ran a 1.4 60ft...

It was outlaw, thus not IASCA legal. Everyone was placing the mike right by the subs or wherever they thought they could get the most SPL. I put the mike in the back seat roughly 6 inches away from the 10w1's.

We were using the audio-control SA-3055 that day. I've never worked on that SPL meter or adjusted one, however, they did some testing before the event to insure acurracy.

Also, the tweeters came with the car, and I had the EQT from previous setup. I'll gladly run a setup that I didnt have to pay anymore for if it sounds good, which anyone would tell you mine did. Wish I still had all that crap, would love to hookup in current stang

Congratulations on your second place finish.

Lets note though, that this was a SPL contest, not a sound quality competition. So this does not say anything about the way your car sounds or did sound. One of the most successful SPL cars we ever built (20+ National titles) had no tweeters or mids in the car at all.

FYI, If you compete in another outlaw SPL contest, try the driver-side footwell for your mic placement. It is a high pressure area in most cars and you should pick up some db's.

Right on, sure will if i ever do SPL again. They had a little gathering after the SPL drag for listening to different peoples systems, and repeatedly (sp[?) people shook there heads at how good the front stage sounded when i poped off the mach460 pods to reveal the chepo tweeters. Sometimes its luck how components come together. I looked into their specs and the SPL db efficiency was good, and power handling also. Spend the bux if you have it though on nice tweeters, they make alot off difference.

Ive seen 3 cerwin vega stroker 10's hit in the 150's.
They had 2 Zapco 1000w amps pushin' each one in a beetle.
3 10's with 6000 watts.
Its not quantity but quality.
