Anyone else had a Bad Experience at Dallas Mustang?

Just to set the stage, I have used Dallas Mustang for the last 9 years for parts and service. I have owned 12 mustangs ranging from a 150hp 1968 mustang to a 1,400 hp sn95 to the s197 Saleen I currently own. Needless to say, I have been there a time or two. I live 42 miles away from Dallas Mustang but have always chosen to make that hour drive each way for the service I received in the past even though every other performance shop in the metroplex is closer.
Dallas mustang had my car from September 27th till October 17th for a dyno tune and nothing was completed even though service writer,Robert, claimed the work was complete. Robert attempted to charge me for services not performed. Anyone that uses Dallas Mustang should be cautious when they use their services especially if Robert is involved. I could really care less how long they had my car but the fact that Robert is ripping people off will keep me from going there again. Justin was helpful even though we were unable to get the car tuned in the 21 days it was there.
I had originally purchased a dyno tune for full price on the car in late 2006 with the understanding that every tune after would be $150. I had the Saleen tuned there on three different occasions. I contacted Robert at Dallas Mustang mid September to set up a retune because I added exhaust. He said Archie had left the company but was still doing dyno tunes on the weekend but he would check with Archie and call me back. After not receiving a call for a 2days, I called back and he stated he would call Archie then call me back in a few minutes. Few minutes turned into days again so I called him again. I was instructed to drop off the car and they would have it complete within a week. I dropped it off on September 26th with Justin who recognized me because I have been in there so many times.
Robert calls me on October 3rd and states that he would have to charge me for a full dyno tune ($375) instead of the $150 retune because it had never been tuned by Dallas Mustang. I explained it had been tuned there 3 previous times . He then proceeded to tell me he had worked there for 5 years and the car had never been in there. I had him look it up in the system and he was able to find the old work order and previous tunes. Then he tells me he has to charge me $375 anyway. He also says I need new spark plugs because the stock ones won’t hold 12lbs of boost and are fouling out. I inform him they are not stock plugs and they are 6 month old Autolite HTOs. He claims that supercharged cars need new plugs every 6 months which having had 4 different supercharged mustangs I can tell you is FALSE. I tell him to go ahead and change the plugs if that is what they have to do to tune the car and save the old ones for me.
Robert calls me Monday October 5th and claims the car is done and ready for pick up .The $150 I was originally expecting to pay had turned into $617. He also informs me that they couldn’t fully tune the car because it was running out of fuel and I needed to upgrade the injectors and fuel pumps. He was asking for any additional $1600 for the items on top of the $617. I asked if he turned up the Kenne Bell boost-a-pump and he hesitates and says oh yeah we maxed it out. I really don’t trust a whole lot of what this guy is saying so I ask for his manager and he informs me he is the head manager of the shop and no one is above him except the Owner. I asked for the owner but was informed by Robert that he wouldn’t speak to customers.
I called back the next day to speak with Justin since he knew that my car had been in there many times .I asked him to look at the car to make sure they had adjusted the boost-a-pump. He checked the pump and it was set the same as when it was dropped off!! He put it on the dyno to see if I was running lean and needed new pump and injectors and Robert had claimed. Come to find out it was running rich and the car had not been tuned at all!! The $150 plugs plus $75 install had never happened as Robert had claimed was complete. Robert had called me on the 5th to tell me the car was done and ready to pick up and I’m finding out nothing was actual done and he was going to charge me $617 and trying to get an addition $1600 for injectors and pumps!!!!Justin apologizes and informs me that he will call in someone to tune the car.
October 17th rolls around and the car still hasn’t been tuned so I pick it up during their open house. I will no longer use this shop after 9 years and hope no one gets else gets ripped off by Robert or Dallas Mustang. Gotta wonder how many other customers Robert has swindled money from.
Even though it probably won't do any good I contacted the BBB.
I just hope that the owners or management step up to protect their customers from this type of fraud.

Wow... they totally shafted you on that one.

+1 on a not so great DM experience. Shop people come and go through there, and quite frankly, I would hesitate to trust any of the Mustang shops around here. They all have done customers wrong. Reed Speed would be the only performance related place I would go.

Good Luck with your car, take it to Reed Speed at Randall Reed's Ford.

Heres their site:

I wish I had the cash to open a shop . I have some really great ideas and with the way most people get treated by the tunners I think I would make a killing . Its hard to do any volume out of a two car garage in your spare time . If I or any of my budies hit the lotto I promise you guys will see the coolest most honest and most fun chassis/engine dyno/machine shop/cruise and GTG spot/sports bar/test and tune drag strip complex you have ever seen . I know its hard to make a living in any car related biz but if people did honest work they would see repeat customers and those customers would spred the word . I never have any trouble finding cars to work on or people that will vouch for my quality of work . I just wish I had more time .

I dont know much about what happen since i have nothing to do with what goes on in the shop. I do know Your plugs were fouled out and it always good to have fresh plug while doing a tune. Any tuner will tell you that.

Robert is no long @ Dallas Mustang. Sorry for any problems you had.

I had a bad experience my last time there as well, but I WILL say that it revolved specifically around Robert and he is no longer there. EVERYONE else there has been good to work with. Noah did a great job on my gear swap and axle upgrade. Same day service.

Fuck that Robert guy. He royally pissed me off, and I would bet it cost me a couple hundred out of my paycheck making sure that I got someone on the phone to let them know how unprofessional he was, and how that was going to drive customers to their competition. Apparently, that worked.

I have dealt with Jeremy (Whiteboy) on getting parts, and have gotten good service, I have not had any work done in the shop though.

Good luck getting anything but a rash from Dallas Mustang. Like someone said earlier, just use the search function to look up a whole shitload of dissatisfied customers (me included).

If is not about Chris is about Neal if not is something about Justin,Scott ,Robert ,Melissa or Web..
If we do a SEARH, I don't think there is a person that you don't talk shit about.

If you have a problem let me know & will be more than happy to make it right.!

I would never take my car there for tuning. HPP ftw for tuning. I bought a bumper cover there and got a rear bumper for free. I will just stick to buying parts there.

ive been there a few times for 68 parts and my old 93 coupe, didnt really think the mood was right in there, felt like the old "you dont know shit boy" attitude in there... ive had better times at lone star there, they asked what i was trying to do and what i needed to do to get there, not "wait what, that wont work, nope, nope, nope, you cant put that on the car, wont fit"... i was like do you want to sell the shit or not, im tryin to buy, hello???? just my opinion...

I have dealt with Jeremy (Whiteboy) on getting parts, and have gotten good service, I have not had any work done in the shop though.
Thats why i Put you on the Phone with Randy that day. I wanted him to hear first hand from a customer How robert was treating people.

So now DMP has not only gone from ignoring customers on the sales floor who do not spend several hundred at a time to just butt fucking customers out of their hard earned cash on services not rendered in the shop and stealing customer possessions, out of their cars, LOL!! WAY TO GO DMP.

If that place would hire competent people, then there wouldn't be threads like this posted once a month.

Robert is no longer at DMP and I run the shop now. The guy never got charged anything in the end. He picked up his car free of charge. It is unfortunate that you had to go thru that crap with Robert. I can apologize till im blue in the face, but I realize that doesnt matter and that you have made up your mind. And thats ok. But for future reference for you and anyone else. The problems are getting weeded out. If you know me then you know I am honest and more then fair when it comes to my work. Justin and Jeremy try to go out of there way to help the customers and correct the mistakes that have been made. But we cant fix something if you dont let us know. If there is a current problem please dont hesitate to ask for someone in management at the time of the problem.

What happened to me, happened a long time ago.
It has nothing to do with anyone of you guys, I hope.
I tried very HARD to speak with "management" to no avail.
All it got me were long holds on the telephone line.
My business is/was not needed or wanted at DM and was made VERY clear.
I haven't been back since, good luck to all who use their services.
I am still waiting for the phone call that I was promised.

Every business that has ALOT of business such as dallas mustang is going to have a few unhappy customers, the crew that is up there now is probably one of the best crews they have ever seen. I know them all and they are all stand up. Robert, seems to be the person who has caused alot of problems and is no longer there, so it becomes a moot point.

Only really used DM once and that was when Mike Wilson tuned my car. No complaints, in fact Mike Wilson seems to create a loyal following with his personality, skill and service. I don't think he's tuning there anymore, then again these things change more then the weather....

i didnt read any of this post just thought id put in my worthless .02

when i first got into mustangs, DM was the first place i called. The rudest mother fucker ever answered. I thought maybe it was just that rude motherfucker. I actually showed up and they were still fucking rude(i cant stand rude people) I walked out and went to Lonestar. years fucking later(a months ago) i called to inquire about a part and i guess the rude mother fucker that answered almost 5yrs ago, answered again! pussy! Ive met 2 DM employees and they were ok so im not gonna judge the buisness on account of that bitch but im not gonna go to DM anyway.

Ive had MAJOR problems with other advertisers on here but im not gonna say anything till someone else does
