New Hero: Sgt. Kimberly Munley
Good job Sergeant! She put four rounds in that sack of shit that murdered our troops, despite being hit herself. Tough broad! God Bless, and I wish you a speedy recovery!

I'm surprised she could pull herself from generating revenue to do such a fine job!

Thanks. I don't know of a single fellow officer that wouldn't rather rush headlong into her situation than to write a ticket... A real officer that is. We have several that just come to work and collect a paycheck. |

Here's just a random thought. She got off at least 4 shots that were hits.
I wonder about shot placement and why at least one wasn't a head shot. I don't know, but she might have got a headshot, just thinking out loud here.. |

I just heard she was hit immediately...like before she even fired a shot. I'm also hearing she hit him at least twice (after she was shot), and her partner may have hit him twice. No one seems to be sure.

I bet if she's asked, she'll say she "was just doing her job".
I'll echo Matt in saying good officers would much rather be putting down real "bad guys" than writing tickets, but it's all part of the job. My hat is off to her and all others "on the job" that put public safety before personal safety.

Btw, 4 rounds on target doesn't mean it was 4 rounds center mass. For all we know she could have hit him 3 times in the legs and once in the neck. Regardless she was very brave and is a true hero. I don't know very many people that would run straight into a fire fight with a crazed murderer.

Say you have someone wearing body armor like in the Hollywood shootout. Then you have a better chance of a headshot. Sometimes in a high stress situation you will walk your rounds up a target. I'd like to know some more on this shooting.... |

Did you hear what weapon the piece of shit was using? An FN Five Seven, the man knew what to get, especially if body armor was encountered.

For some reason I thought the cop had died. Maybe a different cop died? I don't know, I was too disgusted to watch the whole story. Anyway, does anyone here find it even slightly weird that a cop stopped 'em, on a base full of automatic weapon wielding marines? What was a cop even doing there? Don't they have military police? Just something I found to be strange.

Hadn't really thought of it but it's pretty damned cool that a woman did the bringing down. Now the piece of shit loses face with his other deranged lunatic buddies, (for the slow crowd) as women are looked down upon and considered to be weaker...

While on base, it's not like soldiers run around like guerillas of war loaded down with a chache of weapons and ammo. Weapons are locked down in the armory and the only ones that customarily have weapons is the perimiter gaurds guarding the base entry/exits. |

First off, Ft. Hood is Army. We take offense to being called Jar Heads. Secondly, everything is locked down. Hard locked down.
And those guarding the gates? When I was there we had empty mags

I always thought that they had military police. I was also under the impression that the police had no jurisdiction on base, and the military had no jurisdiction off base. Guess I was wrong.

I'm ex Army. One thing I always thought was odd was that I had to lock up my personal weapon in the armory. At the time I was in Virginia and I had a CHL. I could go most anywhere off base with a concealed handgun but the moment I got back on base, I had to go lock it up.
I know we have a few knuckleheads that shouldn't be anywhere near a weapon but frankly those guys shouldn't be in the military to begin with. I think the Army needs to reconsider their regulations on privately owned weapons. If just one CHL holder was there with his sidearm this tragedy might have been greatly reduced. The Army could still regulate who can and cannot conceal carry on post but they should definitely make it so more off duty (and on duty) soldiers are armed.

Bases do have armed MP's. They also have civilian armed guards so MPs can be used in combat areas or other duties. The lady that was shot was an civilian armed guard, not a police officer.

She served in the Army herself and is a Department of Defense Police Officer. She is also a member of the "special response team". There were probably few on base better equipped to handle the situation than her.
The D.O.D. Police are a fixture on many (if not most) military bases. They handle most of the duties that a patrol officer would handle on a municipal police force. As was previously mentioned, this frees up the MPs (or Masters at Arms or Air Police, depending on branch of service) to be deployed. The individual branches investigative bureaus (CID, NCIS, etc.) handle investigative duties for crimes committed on military installations and act as joint investigators in crimes against service members that occur off post. I think the reason the FBI has gotten involved in the Ft. Hood situation is because of the early indicators of a possible terrorist act.

I'd squeeze information out of him, then televise that woman finishing the job, over in doon-coon town. They all better be glad i'm not running the show, or they would all have a new fear.

But there is an added bonus. He won't be spending his years living it up. He'll be going to Leavenworth. That prison is a special kind of hell where he gets to spend his days making big rocks into little rocks. Trust me, he'll fuckin' suffer befor they slide a needle into him.

Death is a wet dream compared to what he'll endure there. He'll be locked up with other military criminals.
