Tristan just brought me a possum... Gag!
After signing off of here I let my dogs out. I was getting ready for bed and heard a ruckus outside. Scully came in after I yelled at her but Tristan was a slow poke as always. I came out of the bathroom to see if he was at the door yet and he was sitting there with a god damn possum in his mouth. Eww. I know he's a retriever but... Eww!
So now the questions... What do I do with the body?! Should I take the dogs to the vet? Do possums live alone or in groups?  Gross...

My dogs drag anything and everything into the house. Snakes, squirels, rats, oppossums, etc.
They dont go to the vet everytime they drag something in. Your dog should be fine. Body disposal, I live next to a creek; that's where I dump them at.

I wouldn't bother taking the dog to the vet... my rents dog kill squirrels, birds, possums, cats... anything that comes in the yard. No problems yet! Put the possum in a bag and take it to a close dumpster... apt complex maybe? Or if you're hardcore just bag it and toss it in the freezer waiting for trash day. |

Sounds like they got a healthy one. If they've had their immunizations, they'll be fine. Just wrap a trash bag around your hand and pick it up, so you can bag it without touching it and just throw it away. You're lucky. Your dog is big, and he goes after easy shit. I kind of freak out when my 17lb Rat Terrier goes after big raccoons. I know he can handle them one on one, but it's freaky as shit to watch him work. It could also go a lot worse with a big dog. My buddy's chocolate lab thinks skunks are made to spray cologne on him as he kills them.

I have a feeling my Border collie is what got ahold of it. The Golden doesn't have it in him. Wasn't very old, looked under a year and pretty small. I was wondering if that fucker was faking it, and sure enough he is gone. He pooped all over our patio, too!

Usually their not dead when dogs bring them to you. Possums are freaking tough animals and most dogs will think they killed them and stop messing with them. Be sure it's actually dead next tie.
