Taking a break, almost broke my hand...

I was at work Monday and found a couple of stolen cargo trailers at a house in my area.

I guess they had been stolen over the weekend, and the owners didn't even know they were gone. They weren't showing to be stolen, so I called them since they didn't register to the location they were at. The owners said they should be at the places they parked them, and when they checked, sure enough they were gone.

The theives had one small enclosed trailer hidden towards the back of the house where they were peeling off the vinyl company logos and phone numbers. To save the owner the tow fee, I had another PO push while I grabbed the tongue and pulled. I didn't make the corner and the trailer ran into the side of the house next door and smashed my hand between the tongue and the wall.

X-rays showed that it wasn't broken, but I can't grab anything because of deep tissue contusions. I've been doing cardio and legs (machines only).

I hope it quits freaking hurting so I can get back to doing upper body work outs..

This sucks....

That's what I get for trying to help out a victim and get his property back.... No good deed goes unpunished....

I worked out just as normal in a cast with a broke hand. Used a lot of band training.

I'm 3 days out from a crushing injury. I can't grip enough to hold anything over 40 lb dumbells.

It was a pain in the ass grabbing 45lb plates to throw on the sled...

Just take a week off, it won't hurt you. They have done a study showing weightlifters taking 4 weeks off with hardly any loss in strength as long they maintained creatine supplementation. I'm sure you can google it. Just don't fuck up your hand any more than it already is.

On another note, If someone wants to let me stomp their hand and then see how much they can bench, I'm up for it.

Benching I can understand why it's a pain in the ass. But putting weights on the sled I just don't understand. And I have had a bent bone in my hand where the doctor had to break it to make it straight and I was able to lift weights.

Because loading up a sled isn't much fun one handed.

The registered empty weight on the trailer was 1,000 lbs. That's quite a bit momentum concentrated on the palm of my hand.

You'd be suprised how common of an injury it is to have your hand smashed by the tongue of a trailer. I know two people that it has happened to in the past year. Consider yourself lucky, neither of the other two have recovered completely and they may not ever. In both cases it severed some tendons and required surgery.

I can totally understand about not being able to lift 20-25 45lb plates on the sled.

It's really not horrible. I sometimes think about having the option of losing a leg or arm. I'm kinda lucky by losing my non dominate arm. Losing a leg would be worse in my eyes. My .02

I understand i had a cast on my hand. With bands you dont have to use your hands. I wrapped it around my wrist.

it's true i broke my hand last year ''kicked my ex wifes new husbands ass lol'' and had to have surgey on it i took off 10weeks and it didn't hurt my strength that much

Went for my 7 day check up yesterday. The hand is still swollen and bruised. The doc rechecked the xrays and said that with brusing that bad a week later, I should have broken something.

I've been doing elliptical/treadmill/abs. I still can't grab anything over 35 lbs...
