carrers actually do a little bit more than put the mail into your box. They arrive at work at 7am each morning and sort it for the route, then carry a SHIT TON of mail to the trucks.

Believe me, I see the interworkings of the postal service each day and it frustrates the fuck out of me. So many stupid decisions being made by incompetant people that cannot be fired. Hell, I found a "hideout" the other day where 1/2 of the DFW area maintenance staff was f'n watching TV on the clock while complaint after complaint rolls in that they aren't getting anything done. I know a way to get rid of nearly 40k people there in less than 10 minutes and save a ton of money by contracting it all out....however, I know I'd be lynched for suggesting it.

Junk mail is what keeps the USPS in business and Netflix is a close second.

what I find totally fucking hilarious is people bitch about the postal service and want Government health care....if they are too stupid to realize the service would suck too....maybe they should die from lack of care?! thin the herd a little.

Well Ive been in the Pipefitter Union for 13 years now along with my dad(35yrs) and my brother(15yrs) so I guess everyone thinks we are over paid too right?? I mean dam I only had to go to App. school for 5 years to get where I am now. I really think every Mexican should come on over and weld up all the Nuke plants,Pipelines,refineries and so on. I mean who cares if its done right or if it leaks and kills alot of people..........

Shit my dad was a pipefitter and I was a helper for about a year. I can say pipefitters earn every cent they make. That's some hard work right there.

This is the way I view the post office and any other civil service job. True they might be over paid and if your not a veteran or a minority you might as well forget about ever getting hired there, but so what. I think if you risk your life by serving in the Armed forces you earned the right to have a cush job when you get out of the military. I don't think its right to do away with the system just because a few minorities that didn't serve have found a way to weasel their way into the system.


I also can't beleive the amount of folks on this very website that bitch and moan about a fellow American that does a blue collar job and makes over $20 an hour. Yall bastards think every American that didn't go to college should dig ditches and work for minimum wage. As a nation of consumers our economy is dependant on Americans making a decent wage in order to keep this ship afloat. Not to mention you need to make over $20 an hour if you ever plan on raising a family outside of the ghetto.

I had a huge post written up on the USPS however I decided not to post it. But I feel something should be said.

I have a parent that is a clerk and used to be a carrier, shes worked 18 years in the postal service and has earned every penny she has made. I grew up in a post office, I have been in the back in the morning watching these people work there asses off to get the mail out, 90% of the Postal service EARNS there money.

Every company in the world does have issues, bad/lazy employees/management. I am interning with the United States Postal Inspection Service. They have inspectors that deal with contract employees and businesses like FedEx/UPS. These companies background checks are JOKES and the majority of the people that handle your packages make minimum wage or close to it. The PIS is catching FedEx/UPS employees stealing packages left a right. While the USPS is not perfect and you still have people stealing in the USPS my point is that it is WAY HIGHER in these other companies. The reason I say these companies back ground checks are a joke is because the people the PIS are arresting all the time are showing up with really bad criminal records and a very high percentage are illegals using obvious fake or stolen identifiers.

I mean really who has more to lose the guy making 20 an hour with a gov retirement or the guy making minimum wage and no retirement.

Last point I want to make if you eliminate the USPS you will put a major dent in the already dieing middle class. Who's going to Carrie the nation when we lose our middle class? The rich that are doing everything they can to make more and more money by closing down USA factories and jobs and shipping them over seas were some one was being paid to make a product or provide a service at lets say 14 an hour were now the new worker is producing the same service or product for .50 to 3.00 and usually the product's/service quality is lowered. Or is the lower class that is already mooching off the middle class for welfare, ss, and other government hand outs going to step up and create the money needed to provide for our nation...

The USPS is making cuts left and right and doing everything a government agency can to stay in the black. However its also going through allot of changes, that are being compounded by the bad economy.

Well my Local is not just a pipefitter/welder local. It has hvac and plumbing working out of the same hall. We work on alot of stuff at T.I. as far as hooking up the tools and piping them up (clean room stuff) but man there is alot of stuff Chillers,Nukes,boilers,pipelines.... We detail out the systems put up hangers hang the pipe and weld it.Think of me whenever you go to work and you have A/C or a heater in your office.

Our street had 3 different carriers while I lived in Fort Worth. Every one of them wouldn't put mail in the box if there was a car near it, nor would they deliver if the shrubs/flowers/vines that some people had near their boxes were sticking out into the street. And yes, they could put that piece of paper in the box chastising you about it. Further, anything larger than 6" cube, they'd put that message to come to the post office to pick it, when the damn thing WOULD fit in the mailbox. Customer service my ***!

What ever happened to "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds", but cars and bushes, Oh my! Heck, when we did have snow/ice in Fort Worth, they wouldn't deliver the mail then, either.

Now I will say, my carrier in Sherman is awesome. Mail is ALWAYS in the box, despite cars, etc. Further, if its too much or too big, she comes to our door and will knock, and leave it by the door if we're not there.

Our carriers are constantly delivering Jose sanchez' mail to my mailbox with my white ass name on it and delivering my mail to others in the neighborhood (kind people bring it back to me). Jose' mail doesn't even have my address printed on it. I have called the local postmaster numerous times and basically just get a chuckle reaction. FUCK USPS and it's ignorant assed carriers. Fucking government dipweeds
