New carry

Had an offer made on my M&P, but I wouldn't do the deal last night. Had the guy meet me at my work this morning, sold the pistol and everything with it.

Made up a bill of sale with both of our ID's copied; gave him a copy and kept one for myself.

Walked right next door and picked up a brand new Springfield XD .45 Compact

.

It's just a little bigger than my M&P was, with a decent capacity, 10 + 1. That's a lot of 230 grain robber stopper. Capacity was the reason I didn't keep my Kimber Crimson Carry, i didn't feel like 7 + 1 was enough. I figure if I can carry more, and still conceal it, why not?

Anyways, thought I'd share. GhostTX (Duan) from here in Sherman let me shoot his 4" .40 XD the weekend we went shooting in Tom Bean, and that helped me make the decision. So thanks Duan.

It's all about personal preference.

I feel perfectly fine with my 5 shot S&W .38+P revolver.

But, then again, I don't have a little penis.....

LMAO, I've got a little thickness around the waist area that allows me to conceal a slightly larger handgun.

Seriously pistols are not for self defense, and especially not for offense. They are for emergency use only.

Pistols are last ditch weapons.

you make a good point, but you are not going to carry a rifle or shotgun into wal-mart or a convenience store.

i too feel more comfortable with more rounds in my carry weapon.

i had an xd-45, but it was HUGE. i need to look into an xd-45 compact myself.

Where are the pictures?

I'd love to have a Kimber compact of some kind for concealed carry but I wouldn't care for the price of what one would run or the weight and bulk. I'm perfectly happy with the Glock 27 I've owned (which will be 10 years old come this December!) and I've carried two extra mags (plus one in the gun) with no discomfort when I've had to spend time in what I'd consider bad parts of town.

Exactly! I'm not going to roll into JITB for my bacon ultimate fix with my Mossberg at port-arms. I can get away with concealing this XD, so I plan on it.

And....when full-on winter rolls around, if I think I can get away with it, I'll carry the full size XD.

Sidenote: This compact XD, as with all XD's, came with 2 mags. The one in the gun is a 10 rounder....the back up mag is a 13 rounder with the molded grip at the bottom. Helluva backup mag.

Soon.....like possibly tuesday or wednesday....haven't had a chance to fire it yet (i know..shouldn't carry an untested weapon), but I have a lot of confidence in Springfield and their products. I'll put some rounds through it this week.

My good buddy recently picked up a Glock 27 (.40 S&W?) and he loves it. I handled it some, and I wasn't too fond of it due to the grip size. Too small.

Like I posted earlier, I had a Kimber Crimson Carry for a short time....I didn't like carrying it because of the weight (it didn't weigh that much less than the XD, or at least didn't feel that different). Also, the price. That's not a gun that I would want the police to possibly take as evidence. Too damn expensive.

I had an m&p 9c that I liked, grampa ended up with it as his new carry piece. I'll be building a bobtailed pre series 80 to replace it. I liked it but I like 1911's more.
