I was on the computer last night and all the sudden the screen went black. It was running great, I haven't done any up grades or anything. All the fanes come on, power supply, case fan, and cpu fan. The cd rom won't open, the light on the floppy is on. When I turn it on it doesn't even try to boot up at all. I can't smell anything has been fried.

unplug the power to the back of the PC, wait 10 secs and plug it back in, If it still wont turn on, its probably fried.

Once thats complete... during the boot process, if you don't hear no beeps whatsoever, then your motherboard is fried. It could be from your power supply, if you have alot peripherals and only like a 240watt supply that would do it.. lets hope it didn't fry anything else such as your memory.

Take your motherboard ONLY and bring it to a computer store, preferably a small unfranchise place and have them take a look. They should be able to tell within a few seconds, or if its not visible then they can easily hook it up to do a test.
I had the same exactly problem... and sure enough.. it was the motherboard.. did the same exact thing as i explained to you, to make sure... put a new one in.. everything worked normal.

Thanks for the help Chris and blwnSnake. I'll try and take the mobo to a small store and let them check it out.
