I have XP home edition and when I right click - Save As on a jpg image, I can only save the stupid thing as a bmp file? The name is always untitled too. WTF is it doing that for? I never had this problem till I got this system with XP Home edition, and can't find any settings that sound like they address this problem in IE.

Isn't if the file is a BMP file that you can't change the file type there and you need some picture editing software to change the file type?

That would be true, but I know these are jpg images. I posted them up myself and wanted to see what the names were!
See if these appear as jpg or bmp files for you, if you can please.

Also, if I right click and say Email Picture, it attaches it as a jpg file? Fricken IE????:mad:

If I had that happen with IE on attachments I've posted here. Seems to be computer specific problem as I remember one computer would save as BMP's (even though I know I uploaded a JPG) and another computer would save it as a JPG. Not very much help but confirms the problem you have. Guess I'll do some looking around in IE but I don't know....

Definately a known issue... I can across the same info on the MSFT site, however have had zero success with the suggested solutions (including SP1 for IE).

When I decide to mess with it again, I'll be sure to share any solution that actually works...

I've noticed it happen only after a page has been up a while. If I go to a site, open a new site in another window, and surf around that one for a bit, then come back to the original, find a cool pic and right-click save as ... it's bitmap. I reload the page, right-click save as, and it's back to jpeg. Or if I save it before going to another site, it saves as jpeg.

If yours is doing it all the time, not sure what you can do to help.
