Is there any way to hook up 2 old processor's together?

With a dual board that supports them... AND make sure they're matching speed, and preferrably matching batch numbers. Some processesors are more lenient, and will work with processors from a seperate batch ... and others aren't so lenient.

You can also setup a beowulf style cluster which is easy and worth it in linux when you are using some decently fast cpu's on top of a good network, but it also depends on the application you want to do this for. If you plan on doing number crunching or data manipulation then linux would be for you. You can also do it in windows with.... bah, I forgot the name, but they have a clustering application that comes with their high dolla operating system.
Its only worth if what you are trying to do supports multiprocessing. If you are wanting to have bitchin' game play, look somewhere else for the speed.

 $$$
I guess not too bad with just 2 processors / computers ... but still. :D
And yeah, whatever program(s) you're running, if you want to benefit from the multi-processor setup, they'll need to be able to use them. No games that I know of make use of multithreading. High end programs like Photoshop, 3D Studio Max, After Effects, etc do make some use of multi-threading ... and REALLY high end apps, like Softimage, Wavefront, Flame/Fire/Flint, Avid etc, thrive in a multi-proc environment.
