Yea its the turbo KOTH mustang. He got out of shape as he does almost every pass trying to put down that much power in that death trap car(about 5 years out dated) and he didnt lift, he stayed in it and hit the gaurd rail, at around 150 and got air born then came down and went end over end 4-5 times

N o it was his red car not Charlie's Granitelli car. It was his car. He only drives Charlies car at FFW events. Yea this is Dougs old car. Go by his shop tomarrow and check it out. Its nasty, not quite sure how he lived. He broke down 8 poles on the gard rail.

The red car he had was just plain sweet. I saw it run 4.8x @139 letting off. Car's can always be replaced though, life can't.

its called a roll cage...

actually the car broke in half so I dont think the roll cage had much bearing, especially hitting 8 poles that run about 6 feet deep in the ground, especially doing 150+. The whole insde of the car is twisted, mangled and moved around.

Am I the only one that isn't shocked or taken back that Hargett wrecked AGAIN?
Me and 2 of my friends were sitting on the finish line, right in front of the wreck. He was actually out of the car before anyone got down there. He said the throttle hung, but who knows...He wrecked his other car at Kennedale a few years back, but it wasnt this bad. Guess that figures as soon as he gets it running good something like this happens. Hell he ran a 4.61 last weekend, and I believe he just got the 112 mm turbo on the car, he tore up his 106 on the 4.61 pass. We talked to him at his trailer and he said he wont be rebuilding this time.
I'm sure he won't rebuild, he just got the car redone from the firewall back. Kim Wilson finally had that car sorted and able to launch straight and true. There hasn't been much good luck with that car, I'd be ready to move on to something else if I was him. If it was on another 4.5-6 pass like last week, there probably isn't much salvageable anyway.
It was a terrible accident, I was glad but shocked he came out without more serious injuries. I mean he was out cleaning up his own mess:eek: after going through that ride. What was really disturbing(beside the doors and hatch thrown away) was how the intercooler was laying on the ground next to the driver door when it was mounted pass. side. Not to mention the wheelie bars spiked into the ground. I feel for him after how long he battled to get that car down the track and finally seemed to have some things sorted out and this happens. I overheard Travis Franklin saying something about a stuck throttle after launch, so then he just stood on it. Not that I'll be going that fast, but it was a good sales ad for buying a cage. It's truly amazing he wasn't injured. You hate to see it tested, but I'm glad his safety work was done well.

Dude, this is not even remotely funny. The car had been redone from the firewall back. It was a totally different car. Ran straight every time since. The car shook the tires and rattled the throttle stop loose. When Kevin got back on the gas, the pedal went behind the stop and was held wide open.
The car was not in two pieces, the intercooler was still in the dash and the car did not go end over end. It was rolling side, top, side, bottom, about six times. The motor, turbo, and transmission are all still good. But, the car is done. I have some good pics and a couple of really brutal videos. One from the starting line and one from the finish line. I will post a few as soon as I can.
The cars roll cage was still perfectly attached. Not a weld broke or a main bar bent. The roll cage saved his life. Helmet is a little scratched up though.

Nice assumption at me being funny. If I'm trying to be funny, you'll know it.
I know the car has been redone, it needed it. I was there a couple weeks ago when he was running on Pro Mod night.
Either way just like Ross said, he's had HORRIBLE luck with that car.

I am all knowing, everyone must bow down to me. lol:D
I was standing four feet from the car when it left the line.
Who the fuck cares where you were standing? I once stood a few feet away from Dennis Rodman, that doesn't mean I know what it's like to get my dick sucked by Carmen Electra.

I am sure USA Motorsports will find some way to piece that car together and sell it for 5k! Charlie would hate to walk away from a deal that he can yet fuck another person over. I have never seen more pieced together stangs then when he had that shop off of US175. 9 out of every 10 cars had a salvaged title and you could even see where they cut and pieced the cars together at the firewall. Worst part is the cheapest one I remember seeing was a 87 GT for $5800 w/ salvaged title and over spray on the trim and rims!
