Diamond Star MOtors.

Mitsubishi eclipse
Eagle Talon
plymoth Laser.

ranges from a 2.0 NA FWD,2.0 FWD turbo, 2.4NA fwd, and the big bad boy.. 2.0 (4g63) turbo AWD)

run high 14s/low 15s stock.. low 13s fro a couple of hundred in mods.

DSM production was stoped in 95/96 i think. with the death of the eagle talon.. but people still refer to the up to 99 as DSMs.. 00 and later are just shit box eclipses.

It was a joint venture company between mitsubishi (the diamond in their logo) and crysler plymouth (the star in their logo).

DSM's are:
Plymouth laser
Eagle talon
Mitsu eclipse
Mitsu 3000gt
Dodge Stealth
and a few others that aren't worth naming.

umm .DSM is nothing like SVT:)
SVT team takes a normal vehical... say mustang or focus.. and does "factory mods" to it.. differnt motor.. differnte suspension...
DSM was the collaboration of 2 companys.. All "dsm" eclipses are.. DSm.. from the base rs eclipse to the GSX.

4g63 is the motor Designation.. kinda like saying ls1.. or lt1.

basicaly its a pretty stout 2.0 4 banger.. you can find it in the DSM turbo DSM cars.. the VR4 galant and the Mitsu Evo series cars.. it is normaly good to 400-500 Wheel hp.

I didn't realize that. I was under the impression that they were only behind the high-po engines/drivetrains... interesting.

If you want to make a comparison to SVT, then it would be Ralli Art. Up until recently, this was not available in the USA. I believe on the new 3g eclipses, dealers are going to be offering Ralli Art packages. If not this year, then probably next. This all came about with the New EVO and the new company Mitsu North America. IMO, the 4g63 is one of the stoutest 4 cyclinder blocks ever made from teh factory. Of course, I sorta have a biased opinion :). Like Feldman said, the blocks are usually capable of handling 400-500hp without upgrading anything. There is also various differences in 1g and 2g 4g63 motors as well, but thats a whole new can of worms (each having the better points).

The Dodge Caravan also had a Mitsubishi engine. :)

There are alot of car's that had 4g63/64 type blocks actually, you just have to know what you are looking for. The lasest craze is taking a 4g64 block with is 2.4 liters. Most of the other supporting mods will bolt right on as well as the motor mount positions. A mighty max has a 4g64 block. Obviously you would have to put in better pistons and rods etc, but the end result is more displacement.
