...do you think the economy will turn around?
I do simply because once the war is over it also took the uncertains with it and the peoples will start to re-spend and investors will start to re-invests.
Can you believe how cheap gas would get to if US has control all of Irag's oil.

The US is going to take control of Iraq's oil just like it did with Kuwait's oil.

It was up 235 points today and about 1,100+ points over the last week or so. I bet there will be some selling next week so some people can take home the cash they've made during the last week.
I don't think the US is trying to take control of Iraq's oil. We are removing a dictator.

Exactly. The only reason we are taking over the oil fields is to protect them. Once SH is gone then a temporary government will be set up and after that a real one run by Iraq citizens will take over. They will need the oil to fund their new government.
I do believe the US economy will soon take off. There is a tremendous amount of stimulous in the pipeline right now. I've been seeing where a lot of people seem to be finding jobs so maybe the job market is starting to thaw out.

Yea... we're removing that nasty dictator... yea, that's the ticket... Oil?... nooooo... never crossed our minds...
Dude, there is a really cool dictactor in Asia, with a nuclear weapons program that will reach our coastlines.
Sort like saying, "Yea, we removed this awful dictactor, and damn! look at that shit! The second largest oil reserve in the world!"
I don't think America has any intention in controlling the Iraqi oil, but to setup a very pro-american regime which will add much stabilization to the area, and, yes, oil prices.
Oil is an interest, absolutely. But what threatens that interest is a dictator with potential access to nuclear weapons.
Well, not anymore hopefully.
What's interestingly is that the US is using Iraq as an "example" to N. Korea.
"See that city? WHAT CITY MUDDAFUCKA!"
Nobody has seen a city bombed like this since the Allies bombed germany. (I could point out the carpet bombing of Vietnam, but that was mostly jungle...this is downtown.)
Much more to this than oil.

1. Getting rid of some WMD in the hand of a fucked up soul.
2. Getting rid of that fucked up soul.
3. Getting a potentially strong foothold in a very (imo) backward region.
4. In getting that strong foothold, getting stabilization in oil prices, which in turn will help stabilize a faltering economy.
Anything else?

yeah...i read your post...you and i both know that you wrote it insinuating(sp?) that oil was/is a key motivator. you've said so in previous posts too.
i think that the oil issue is more of a coincidence than a contributing factor to why we are there. n. korea has weapons sure, but they have bluffed their weapons at us before ...they will be dealt with too. my basic point/question is: If Iraq was not an oil rich area, would we be there? -- my answer: absolutley....much more at stake than oil......i really think it is last on the list of benefits to our involvment there.
