Has anyone else heard anything about this?
I heard it on the radio this morning.
They said that he was carried away on a stretcher wearing an oxygen mask. I hope that was him.

There's going to be endless speculation and rumor until the truth comes out. I'm taking all of these reports with a grain of salt.

You know, I have a hard time believing that a man would build a fortress around Baghdad as an advertisement that he was there and actually be there. Something just doesn't add up........know what I mean.

It seems as though the US really had good info on his whereabouts when they dropped the first bombs. Part of me thinks we got him. Reports say that their leadership is crumbling from the top down. That is a good sign as well. I don't think we will be too sure until the ground troops get into Baghdad. Hopefully, Iraqi soldiers and their leaders will start surrendering left and right. If so, it will mean that he is either dead or he will have no army to protect him.
If the soldiers meet very much resistance, that's when I think they should pull back a little and let the "shock and awe" campaign begin. I doubt it will happen that way, though. I really don't think we are going to do the shock and awe thing unless we get confirmation that he is still alive and well, and his troops continue to fight.
On one hand, that's good. Less money spent and less Iraqi civilians killed. On the other hand, I am kinda anxious to see exactly how major it would be. I wish there was a way to evacuate all the innocent people and then do it, but Iraq is no fantasy land.

From what I heard was that the video tape shown AFTER the attack WAS Saddam, but there is speculation as to wether it was recorded BEFORE the attack ( there where no specifics in the speech ). We will have to wait and say... but I hope we did get him.

How would we know if we hit Saddam or one of his look-alikes? Why wouldn't the Iraqi government lie and say that we killed Saddam - show the body - while the real saddam is hiding out still? Seems like a logical thing to do if you want your leader to stay alive...use a dead body double.

Thats not smart thinking because then we will have to fork out more billions to repair what we fugged up. I say keep it as clean as possible.

Bad idea.. Saddam rules by putting fear into people.. I bet if we could prove he was dead, almost all of his army would surrender.. Look how many surrendered in the first gulf war cause they thought he was dead. There are probably tons of leaders that are scared of the us, but even more scared of what saddam will to to them if they give up or lose to the us.
