With these tires, running from a stop is a pretty interesting venture alone, but with the longtubes, the 3rd and 4th gear pull from 3000-3500 all the way up just feels GREAT! Anyway, i was pulling onto a huge 6-lane highway, noting the LS1 SS behind me. I was going pretty pokey, trying to get this guy to line em up, as he clearly sped up to get behind me. No dice on that, so i scan the road (remember this is lubbock, not a lot of curves and hills here, ha) see its clear of traffic, then move over into the fast line. He immediately follows so i punch it from a forth gear roll of about 4000. He tried to stay behind me, and sucked up a few feet at the beginning, but he just got further and further back. Rapped out 4th and he was way back there. Shift into 5th and spend a few seconds there before i shift into neutral and coast down to a non-stupid speed. This is the 2nd time i have done a highway roll against a 6-speed LS1 and pulled him up top, im not talking about 3rd-4th (as he clearly moved closer to me initially) but i guess as DavidZ28 said, when they shift into 5th, they fall on their face big time.
Im disappointed this guy didnt know how to line up, and i think it hurt him even more considering he was DRAFTING me and still getting pulled. Either the tranny gearing sucks, or this car clearly couldnt be running right, as we all know LS1 cars have a ga-jillion horsepower. :rolleyes: From the looks of it and sound of the tips (only saw it once, looked like borla) this was a SS with nothing but a lid and a cutout, but that means he should have 360rwhp.
Unfortunately, no video of this one, but i will post a video of a Blazer i raced earlier and posted about, the rematch he yanked me pretty hard! Just gotta find a hosting person (cough) AbecX (cough) and will post the vids, it was fun!
