Look at the video of me at Ennis. Watch the launch. See how the front end seems to slap back down. What suspension components do I need?

JC - Do you still have everything stock up front on the car?

Yes. Everything is stock except the LCAs

It looks to me like I need more weight transfer from the front

Drag shocks up front?

Drag struts will help that quite a bit.

Have you disconnected your sway bar yet?

Matt's SS went from 1.94 ---> 1.72 60' same night with that mod.

Oh heck yeah. I'm getting 1.58 60' now but, I know the thing can do some 1.3s

In general if you want to keep the front end up you need tall, soft springs and some shocks that have extra compression (ie: the old 90/10 or 70/30 type of shock). The front end should be "springy" :) kind of like an old car with worn out OEM shocks, except it needs to stay longer in the "up" position on launch.

I've been working on this on my old T/A and I think I finally achieved it last weekend. It takes some playing with springs to find the right ones.

I would think there are enough LS1 peeps here that a specific solution for your woes should be well known.

1.3 60s will be very difficult JC, but you never know... High 1.4's should be fairly regular once you get the suspension set up though. What's Hoffpaur and the other cam only big boys 60ing?

If the Marina Del Ray can do it with stock junk then an LS1 car should be able to:)

I liked this video http://www.racingfreaks.net/videos/2_23_03/impala.wmv ;)

I would concentrate on preventing the front end from coming up any more than possible, you are wasting energy. Use that momentum to push you forward rather than lifting the nose so much. An airbag in the RR will make a big difference as well as some stiffer shocks in the rear. Some HALS in the back with the RR a little stiffer than the left would be choice. The only thing I would do up front is remove the sway bar. Take little steps and don't change too much at once.

Little steps are exactly what I plan to do.

Time will tell.

low 1.5s with shocks gears, and whatever else you have done....you mighty occasionally go a 1.4....but you will NEVER go a 1.3 in that hunk of shit.

You're thinking that you built this car huh?

You won't get 1.3x 60's NA. It takes allot more to increase a tenth when you get lower and lower on your 60ft times. Going from 2.0 60's to 1.5 60's is allot easier than 1.5 to 1.3.

Get the struts. And try and remove as much weight off the front as possible. Right now at your weight and power level, keeping the nose down on launch would hurt more then help.

Don't get all pissed at me just because everything you touch falls apart.

Mel let your ignorant tail screw up a perfectly good car. You turned it into the biggest junk ever to run these parts.

I sold them for $400 more than what I paid for rims/tires last summer. They guy who's car I fixed wanted to buy them. He made me an offer I couldn't refuse. So I was rolling on 16" twisters since then. Now I'm big pimpin' again.
