I'm downloading a 786mb motorcycle film right now and want to burn it to a disc to free the room on my hd. How can I split the file to fit it on 2 CD's. I've got Adaptec Easy CD Creator.

I went to Best Buy with some wishful thinking in search of cd's with more than 700mb to no avail.

Thanks,

Troy

Thanks 46bird, but I want to be able to play the disc in my DVD player. Will I be able to if it is compressed? I looked at the site and couldn't find anything to let me know.

I guess I should qualify that. You can create a spanned volume with WinZip, but you won't be able to view the 'film' again until you re-copy it to a hard drive and recreate the volume.

you'll need to load up a movie editor and cut and paste halfway through, save the cut part into another divx/mpeg file.

I'm somewhat computer illiterate...are you saying that I compress it with WinZip, burn it, reload it to HD, and burn the smaller file???

Sorry if this is a stupid?

ABEC- thanks, that sounds like it may be better for me. I'll see if I can figure it all out when I finish downloading the film.

A friend sent me these two links to compress video files to burn to CD's. It is supposed to work well, just sort of slow if you don't have a fast system.

well, im guessing its vcd which therefor means the file type is mpg...

I've used this app before Easy Video Splitter (http://www.doeasier.org/splitter/) and it works fine. Only bad thing is that it's trialware, so after 5 days it will not work.
