The 64 is actually faster, save your cash, get the 64 and buy some extra physical ram and/or a hard drive.

I have to say nay to that.
I have the 4400 and it's great. The specs on the 2 cards are different, the 4400 is said to be faster than the 4200. Plus, The extra 64mb DDR memory is great. I have my card overclocked, and it's great. I say get the 4200.

And I would have to agree, I only saw mb difference, I didnt see the 4200 vs 4400, I stil l think the 4200 is a better deal, w/ or without 128mb of ram, either one is honestly fast as fuck.

Hell, I have the GF3 Ti 200 with 64 mb, and it does perfectly* with every game I have. (unless you count the Doom3 leak, but it is a leak and doesn't really count, it dips to 2 - 3 fps when the zombies are attacking hehe). With Q3A set on 1600x1200 and everything set to max ie. 32bit, highest textures etc... I see 65 fps, at 1024x768 which is what I play at, it is 123 fps. So you should be fine with either the 4400 or the 4200 with either memory.

Well this lady that I'm doing a job for, just went out and spent $220 at fry's for the Geforce4-8X Ver 4.1, it's fucking BADASS, but she has absolutely NO need for it at all, i told her repeatedly that she didn't, but the sales guy told her she needed it more. The most graphic intense thing she'll do on her computer is play the sims.
