For some reason I can't get my sound card to work. Its the one that came in the computer when I bought it new. When I turn the computer on it says system error (MMSYSTEM326 No wave device that can play files in the current format are installed.) Now I know this can't be true because it used to work fine. I have no clue what to do and was wandering if some one could help me out.

Thanks,
Philip

What operating system are you running? First thing I would do is uninstall the soundcard from your computer, then reboot, it should automatically detect the sound card and reinstall it. Let me know if that doesn't work

Also, what particular audio files are you trying to play?

Try different audio formats, ie: wav, midi, mp3, cd audio ... and see if you get sound from either.

If it's a particular file, and everything else is working peachy, the file could be corrupted, or simply not a valid audio file. If it's a certain type of file (.wav, .mp3, .mid, cd's, etc), un/reinstalling the sound card may work. If that still doesn't work, you may be looking at a hardware problem on the sound card. If you have access to another sound card, I'd swap that in, and see if that doesn't fix the problem. If it does, the other card is bad... if it still has the same problem, you might be looking at a reinstall.
