??WTF??Codecs...on Windows Media

Just wondering where to get "codecs" what they are, how they work, and why, after years of being able to play *.avi files, Microsoft decided it wasn't necessary anymore...

ANy help is greatly appreciated.

.avi are usually divx encoded, goto www.divx.com

If you want ALL the divx codecs do a search on google for Nimo Codec Pack. After loading it, it's cut down on alot of the errors recieved when playing AVI files, even with divx 5.x installed.
