 Lets look at the actual netcraft results for all servers, that sites obviously full of shit with its tampered results.
Totals for Top Servers Across All Domains
http://www.netcraft.com/Survey/Reports/current/overalla.gif
Notice how apache is way out in front? I find it hard to believe that they are so far behind apache, yet in that graph they are ahead, even if it is just the top 1000 companies. I call BS.
Notice the market share that Apache owns across the entire internet. IIS is a piece of junk.

Lets check on uptime to, seeing as the longer a company is up, the less money they lose.
http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/today/top.avg.html
Damn, I dont see a damn windows server in the top 20, and there is only 4 in the top 50, how sad is that for Windows stability. And yes I know Linux is not on there so dont try to point that out.

First, dont make fun of retarded kids. I have known several in my life and they all have been pretty cool.
Second, I am also calling BS. Microsux has always rigged the numbers to make themselves look good. If you knew anything about the internet you would know for a fact that Apache rules. Search it out yourself, see who uses Apache and who uses Microsoft.

Survey says, "What web server are the Fortune 1000 websites using?". Not, "What does every tom, dick and harry run?"
There isn't much you can do to hide the results. Telnet into the web server on port 80 and you can see for yourself.
BTW, here is Ford's results:
HTTP/1.1 302 Object moved
Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0

Location: /en/error/404.htm
Connection: Keep-Alive

This is why I said that Microsoft jacks with the numbers to get what they want. Sure, half of the Fortune 1000 companies are running Microsoft IIS, but that is only 500 companies out of hundreds of thousands of companies that run websites. The Internet as a whole is ruled by Apache. Microsoft wont show you that info because it doesn't make them look good.

Who cares what the majority are running? I'll take the top 1000 corporations paying me, then the rest of the others.
Plus, if the majority of my customers (which 100% appear on the Fortune 100 list) are running IIS, guess what I'm developing for?
If we had the bulk of the Fortune 100 list as customers (which is the ultimate goal), I will be enjoying my early retirement in multiple homes spread out across the world.
Having said that, if the majority of my customer wanted Linux based software (which they don't), then I'd be the biggest Linux homer in the world.

But, you can run Netscape Server, which is what GM does. They also do this internally somewhat, but the bulk of the internal websites are running IIS. This is from being inside GM, talking with their multiple IT/EDS departments.

What is there to prove? I freakin' telneted into the servers and those where the server headers returned.?!
I didn't decide server in use by some weird algorithm of "Well it ain't running NT, so it must be apache"

When I telnet into their http port I get no response back, even when issuing a valid command or an invalid one, I used tcp fingerprinting and browsed the web for more about what each company ran, not make stuff up ( ), I couldnt find a date for the articles I found, so I assume they are out of date.
http://www.entmag.com/archives/article.asp?EditorialsID=5444
The iPlanet/Netscape-Enterprise Web server dominates the biggest of the big. The Web server runs seven of the 10 largest corporations’ Web sites, and owns nearly 60 percent of the top 100 of the Fortune ranking. Overall, Netscape-Enterprise held 35 percent of the 500 deployments.
ENT’s look at the largest companies, though, turns the numbers around. Netscape-Enterprise shows up as running seven of the 10 largest companies’ Web sites: General Motors (Fortune Rank 1), Wal-Mart Stores (2), Exxon Mobile (3), General Electric (5), Citigroup (7), AT&T (8), and Boeing (10). Netscape-Enterprise is in use in 64 percent of the Web sites of the Fortune 25; 56 percent of the Fortune 50; and 58 percent of the Fortune 100.
What command did you give to see the httpd header?

HEAD / HTTP/1.1
You have to press enter twice sometimes, as proper HTTP protocol (as with most of the web/mail/news/etc. protocols do) signify end of transmission with two sets of returns in a row.
This will usually send back a 404 error page, but the server header will be intact.
1. GM - Netscape
2. Walmart - IIS
3. Exxon Mobil - IIS
4. GE - Netscape
5. Citigroup - Returns "" as the server (good hiding!)
6. AT&T - Netscape
7. Boeing - Netscape
