Mplayer Sound

On redhat 8.0 I installed Mplayer and it was working fine last night video and sound were working fine. But now the sound will not work when Mplayer starts a DVD it says. SDL: Unable to open audio: No available audio device.

Anyone have any suggestions. I have not made any changes since last night to my system except check my email and browse the internet.. Only one thing I can think of is the power went off on it a while back.

and also, I have tried my sound elsewhere and it works fine.

mplayer -vo x11 -ao sdl:esd file.mpg

Abex, I ended up reinstalling Red Hat so for now the problem is gone. Thanks for the help though. I appreciate it. :)

AbecX, I ran into this problem about the no sound again and I used that command and it worked like a charm.

If you need any help getting real video, quicktime, or windows codec's to work, let me know, I can now play ALL videos on the linux box ( I was having issues with quicktime ).
