Anyone top this?

My car is 24 years old. The block is 30 years old, and my heads are 35 years old.

Just wondering if anyone else is beating on old iron here.

1979 trans-am, 1973 pontiac 455 short block, 1968 GTO heads.

I have a 73 Maverick, but it has a new motor and tranny. But, I still have the '67 289 that was in it when I got it!

#62. #48's were 1969 (I have a set sitting in the garage from my dad's 69 Grand Prix).

That's right, 48's were RAIII heads for the '69 GTO now that I think about it. I've got a few old Pontiac bits here and there in the garage too. My Dad had a '74 Trans Am, but it was stolen from our driveway years ago, and my Grandfather has a '71 Formula 455 in his garage in Plano. It's been driven about 500 miles in the past 10 years! A friend of mine in Addison owns a '73 SD 455 T/A with ~32k original miles as well. I'd love to have a '65 GTO, 389, 3x2, 4 speed, period-correct with some Hurst wheels on it, etc......

You took my words those SD 455's were some mean cars, I read an article years ago that said they were actually the fastest car of that era. Not saying it's true or false but those are some super nice cars

Yep, and rare too. Probably not the fastest but the basic engine made for some excellent hot rodding material - good heads, steel rods, provisions for dry sump oiling, etc.

Shame that the engine was only made for a couple of years.

Probably the fastest thing in 1973-1974, but 1970 was probably the biggest/baddest year for musclecars.

It's good to see all that old iron still rolling. It's sobering to think about how old it is vs. how old I am (which is how this thread got started).

After all, my heads were cast when I was ~6 years old LOL......

Is it white? I ask because that may be our old car. When my mom was prego with me, my dad bought her a white 73 SD455 with an auto tranny. We sold it to a doctor in I think 1980 or so for twice what my dad paid for it. I'll have to find a picture of it

I remember several times being late for school and my dad doing wide swinging fishtails around corners. My mom was even worse! :D If it is our families old car, most of those 32k miles were hardcore :D

Man, what a rush...never could see outside, but it didn't matter... Was the best way to grow up :D (Dad's motto "If it doesn't have a v8, I'm not interested")
