00 GT vs 99 STS Northstar

My neighbor wants to race me in his STS. Can I take him? How much HP did the 99 STS make?

All I have is a shifter.

We'll probably race this weekend. I was just trying to get a heads up on how fast those Cadillac's are.

They come with aroung 300 hp. You should have some weight advantage though, could go either way!;)

Better not race him on the highway.....your best bet is about 20 punch or lower....:D

probably 300-400 pounds maybe more, but I know those things are pretty quick!

There was an STS at Denton last night running 9.40's and maybe a 9.30. A stock stang on street tires better be worried.

I ran one in my stock 88 GT (OK, I had 3.55s) a few years ago from a 20 punch up to about 80. I kept slowly pulling on him until we were done and maybe had about 1.5 car lengths at the end. Those cars are pretty quick.

From a punch, you'll lose any advantage you may have...even your 5 speed. Out of the hole, he would need a lot to get all the mass moving, and with an auto, he may not catch you within a reasonable (1/4 mile) distance. From 20, I feel it would be different.
