View Full Version : Went to denton - call me crazy but...

That place was packed with F-bods tonight, and they really sounded good. I've been a Mustang man for ever, but after tonight I think I fell in love with the sound of that 5.7L beast! They sounded really good at the track, at WOT, but I still love the sound of the Stang with Flowmasters, just at lower rpm's (too quiet at WOT). There were some pretty fast cars out there, many running in the 7's. Traction for Fords seemed worse than it did for the F-bod guys. My best run (made 3) was a 1.9 60', 8.6@83 mph. Need more practice!

I made a quick post of some pictures, I know some are blurry (hard to hold still zoomed in from far away), etc. but I'm too lazy to do any editing/deleting so WYSIWYG!! I'll have a few more tomorrow after I get the 35MM film developed.

a 1.9 60` on street tires in a vert? impressive! Your mph seems a little low, i would expect it to be around 86-87 on a boosted 2v

Yea, the LS1's were dippin. I busted out a 9.1 on street tires with a neck snappin 2.18 60'. I also encountered some nut rattling wheel hop. Oh well, my car is mainly stock.

There was this fine ass biatch out there in a pewter TA. I woulda hitit!:D

yea at first could not get it to hook hitting second thought i was going to get the wall once .worked on it and finally started getting better times . when i finished racing found my problem . i had a vacum line disconnected to the blower . should have run better , the best i could do was a 7.79 .

I wish it was that good on street tires. I had the Nitto DR's on with 16psi. Still mesing with the pressure to figure out the right combo. My best MPH was an 84.2, but it was a slower ET.

Beenfetchedlately
12-29-2002, 06:06 PM
Well the car had little to no gas in it. He came around me on the other end cuz i ran out of gas. I uncovered the pump. Plain and simple. The next race was dirty though. I treed him and let out of bottle cuz it started popping again like it wasny getting enough fuel. But i still managed a 6.74 @ 97 on a 1.38 60 foot.

What is wrong with that mph :p

I don't know how the hell I did it, but I lost a complete roll of film! I have 5 posted up from the 35MM, the others on that roll were from Kennedale a week ago. Did anybody happen to see a roll of 35MM film at Denton laying around?

This was one of my favorite photos (that I got developed), I think it looks pretty cool!

Well, I had an alternate plan come up at the last minute and did not make it out there.

Yellowstang, I think it is great that you are out there taken pictures for everybody. Keep it up cause eventually My car can grace the photo lense.

about your times, run the DR's at 15 psi or less however you might start worrying about the axles. Also, I did not know you had an auto but you should be seeing some better times. Heck, I am running 8.23's on an N/A GT at 82 mph. But I would guess I weight about 600 lbs less.

Keep up the good work to all.

Nice truck! Your times seemed to pick up (little pun there, pick up, ha, ha) when you changed your tires. You were smoking those biatches off!

Aggie97, I have a 5 speed... As far as weight, not sure what I do weigh, but add a little more that night, I had a full tank almost (on purpose) and I forgot a set of Eibachs in the trunk, probably another 50 lbs. right there! Didn't take any video of anyone, I walked around a lot looking for a silver Stang, sorry you couldn't make it out.

I'll probably be out there next week, maybe just with the camera's. I do better behind the lens than the steering wheel! (plus it's cheaper, can't break anything on old yell-o that way!)

Yellowstang- I saw your car out there. The paint job looks really good in person.

I made it to the final round of the All Motor class. Worst of all luck I wound up next to Jay Johnson. That fool was running 7.1xs all night. I knew I was going to lose so I tried to tree him but, wound up redlighting. Shoot, he got a .507 on the light, I couldn't beat that anyway, how much perfect can you get? :(

Yellowstang
12-30-2002, 07:38 AM
Thanks for the compliment Monsoon X. I was wondering if you were going to be there, I don't know car is yours! I'm sure I saw it, just didn't realize it was yours since I haven't actually met you yet. Maybe next weekend, if you're out there again?
That pro tree looks like it would be a pain for a good reaction time! Heck, as fast as that yellow is they might as well do Instant Green Light racing like Kenedale!:D
I need to make some of these weekday GTG's and meet some of these people with all these fast cars, put a person with the pictures I'm trying to get!

I had the Silver T/A with black stripes. I was running 7.6s all night. With a best of 7.55

My was getting .64x on the Pro Tree. I tried to anticipate on the final run with Jay (since I was going to lose anyway in a heads up run w/ him) but, I got a .212 :(

A .212 seems pretty good to me! WTF do you do, as soon as you see yellow start going? Do you have a line lock with that auto? That could help your reaction times! I had bsharer put one on my car just to save my rear brakes when I do burnouts (cheaper than new pads!) The Hurst line lock releases pretty quick.

Used primarily in drag racing to provide positive locking action of the front wheels of race cars, reducing the chance or "Rolling Through The Lights" and producing more effective "Burn Outs" for heating up the tires. Rigorous testing has proven a 1/100,000 of a second release time and vibration tests have seen up to 30 G's applied without mechanical failure.

No, I don't work for Hurst either!:p
I do remember seeign your car though, now I'll recognize it and stop by and say hey next time!

yea i have to heatem up as much as i can to get traction off the line
wasn't running my best ,but not to bad for a pickem up .

first run on bracket racing i red lit by .012 , and broke out by .012, go figure.

i allways have trouble when running a slower car , i get impatient watching them go down the track and waiting on my light . LOL

on the nitrous round i think i had to run lane and got spanked , its hard for me to compete with the lighter cars.

still had fun

Unless you have a white eclipse or a dragster, this was the only other car that turned out worth a flip! The eclpise was lined up next to me so she snapped a couple of it, otherwise it probably wouldn't have been taken.

Dayum! That sounds like a mean MoFo. You should stick with a stock cam and burn 87 octane gas:rolleyes:

OK, here is my 'newbie' to racing question... What was it he was holding in his hand after he released the line lock adn was heading towards tree? Looked like something on a stretchy cord, was that another line lock switch with an easy release?

Yeah, looks like a two stage line lock. One for the burn out and the other for staging so he can release it quicker without reaching over.
