JL W3's, 10's or 12's? I think I would rather have 10's because of the quicker response.
What kind of music do you listen to? A 10 will give a tighter bass where a 12 can go lower.Just depends on what your looking for. I have see 10's hit really hard and still do low bass depending on the incloser. If you have the space I would do the 12's you get a little of both worlds.
What kind of power are you going to be putting to them?

bad bowtie,
Mike is absolutely correct obout the differences in the 10's and 12's.
What kind of car do you drive? If it is an F-body, is it important for you to keep your t-top storage? If so, you can have one ten in the back left corner of the rear hatch or 2-10's on the flat spot right behind the rear seat. If t-top storage is not important, you can do 2-10's, 3-10's or 2-12's in the rear cargo area with out any problems.
If your car is a hatchback, it is going to get very loud. Hatchbacks tend to get anywhere from 3-6 db louder than a car with a trunk (same amps and subs).
IMHO, I personally like the 10's and alot of power. I am a firm believer of buying as much power as you can afford.

I have a full size truck. I listen to rap and some techno. A guy at CarToys told me to push them witha 1000watt amp, but a bunch of people on here said CarToys is a bunch of idiots. I dont know any better because I dont know a lot about audio equipment. Ive been getting yalls opinions so stores dont screw me!

Is your truck a reg cab, x-cab or crew cab?
What year?
Oh, and it is a Chevy right.

Cartoys is filled with a bunch of low payed employees who try and build the most expensive audio system with other peoples money. Screw if it sounds good or even approaches what the customer wants.
Enclosure-wise, I would look at the JL Audio Stealthbox series:

Wow!!! 1000 watts on a pair of tens? Well thats a little over kill,Don't get me wrong I would do somthing like that because more power is better. But a good 250-300 watt amp would be great for that.
Now here come the questions what kind 1000 watt amp? If it's some low end amp that cost you $300 for a 1000 watts steer clear. Not only will this not put out a clean 1000 watts you would be lucky to get 200 out of most of them. You are better off to have a lower powered amp that puts out clean power than a really big amp that puts out distorted power and that will kill your speakers fast.

I would suggest that you go to a custom shop and have them measure the area behind your seats with them in your normal driving position. After they get the airspace, they could tell you what would fit.
You are alot better off having smaller subs in the right airspace than bigger ones on the wrong airspace (they just wont sound right).

Well, I think my descision will have to be the 10's. They will fit in my truck better and they do respond quicker. Plus their cheaper! Thanks guys.

in a truck i would go with 10's.first of all they have a good hit and can get low enuff for most music.second you fit them into a tighter box.third you are in a truck and do not have as much space to fill with music as a car.or you could go with a single 12" and power the hell out of it.

why cant you just run a 10" and a 12" and have the best of both worlds?
