You have no idea what you are talking about. If you saw a Pontiac running 13's it was most likely stock or they don't know how to put a good combination together. My car is running but I am doing prep work so I can paint it. That is why I said soon. Then I will run whatever you bring up. And yes I will drive it any where. So what do you run other than your mouth? What is this you have friends that race but your mom lets you drive her Honda? I run strictly at Ennis. Not much of an 1/8th mile fan. I'll be honest, I like all cars that are built properly. I am not just a Ford fan. My tow truck is a 2000 GMC Extended Cab. I love it! I am very partial to the Small Block Ford however. The best ever made from any manufacture. Not sure when I will get back to the track...Got laid off last Monday so the dough is going to be tight for a while. I "plan" on going back out in September once the weather cools down. If you are still a member of this board at that time, I would love to coordinate.

Well, I like 1/4mi better too, but I would get kicked of after first pass for no roll cage. I have a cage but I hate to add more weight, my cars to much weight already.lol Yeah, we can hook up and go to the track and see how we match up. I'm not really a Dick I just play one on the Forum.LOL

My cars are set up for 1/4mi and I like the plex better, but if you had a track that was 15 minutes from your house and another that was 2 hours from your house what track would you go to more often. It is just to hot to drive without A/C. Hell, I don't even go to Denton until it is dark because of the heat.LOL

I ran the 11's in the Muscle Car Challenge last Sep. and did not get kicked off....I just could not run in the Pro class because I did not have a cage. Had to sandbag a bit with a 12.00 dial-in....Now if you say you need a cage, you are claiming that your car can run 11's, unless it is a convertable...Have any time slips or pics of the car?

beside if you running fast enuff in the 1/4 to need a cage(11.99 or faster)then you should need one in the 1/8 also(7.49 or faster)but as you know chuck does not enforce the rules too much huh.and FYI my lil car runs pretty darn well in the 1/8 and the 1/4.and if you go to denton much on fridays i am sure you have seen me.second if you do not go out there till dark you must not get much racing in,i will normally be there when the gates open and have locked it up a couple of times for chuck.so just let me know when you get your car painted and maybe we can line up and see how bad you spank me.oh BTW i have one those alphabet cams and i love it.actully it is one of the smallest but boy does it pull. http://64.81.114.233/ubb/tongue.gif

I don't have a scanner yet. But I will let you know when I get some pics. I just finished the motor and trans on the 68 'Bird. I haven't had a chance to see what it runs yet. I want to finish painting before I bring it out. It should be pretty soon though. The 68 'Bird is really a mild setup but everything is setup right and I know it will run atleast low 11's 1/4mi. I will take it to the motorplex and run it.

Hey now, it has a good body on it. Yeah it is gutted out but it still weighs 3460lbs(ledsled) that is why the cage isn't in it. I am giving up about a 1/2 second to a 3000lb car and you no what they say a tenth of a second is a carlength. You better worry more about putting afterburners on your car before that T-5 if you want to race me!!!lol(that's for the paint comment)haha

Not all cars can run the same numbers on the street as they can on the track. But, if your car runs 11's on the motor then you are one of the few that I know of. You know the ones that run there mouth faster than there car and have an excuse for everything when they lose.lol

My heads on my 73'bird are #64(rare) for 455ci. My 68'bird has #13(Ram Air III) Heads for 400ci. They both run on pump gas. My cars are very streetable. The 68'bird is a full body car. The 73'bird is gutted out and yes still weighs more than everyones mustangs. So I don't consider it a "Race Car". How many "Race Cars" have you seen run a 3.42 gear? It is funny finding another True Pontiacer on a ford forum. Tell me about your car. I am very interested.

My 73'bird gutted out still weighs 3460lbs that is far from race car weight. I have a Pontiac 455ci with 9.5 comp., ported heads, a Hydralic cam (NOT Hydralic Roller) 750dbl pumper, Performer Rpm intake, 150 shot of nitrous with 2400 stall, TCI400 auto trans and 3.42 gears with 28" tire. My car 1.4's on 60 ft times. It is a mild setup and far from a race motor. I drove it from Wolf City (BFE) to Irving (100mi one way) on a regular bases. (yet in process of making it wild).

The 68'Bird has a 400ci motor with factory unported heads (Ram Air III's) 10.5Comp. a small 490 lift hydralic cam (a stock cam is 469lift), 750 Dbl Pumper, Performer Rpm intake, 2400 stall, 350 auto trans., 3.42gears. Full 2.5" exaust, Headers, and is Full interior and all metal except for hood. I would say it is FAR FAR from a race car and with a 125 shot of nitrous I know it will easily run 11's.

When I say 2800lb mustang that is not stock weight and I race them. I never had to use my bottle on the street in the 73'bird and still beat gutted (that weighed about 500lbs less than my car) mustangs on the bottle. Those are the ones I am talking about, Not Stock Mustangs. My car seemed like a race car because I Chopped there Heads when we raced. So, that is where you get the race car thing from. Bigger doesn't always mean better, my combinations work good together that is why they run well. You have to build a motor around the Cam not just throw a bunch of big expensive parts on it and think it is going to run hard.

If you are talking about my black bird, I sold it a long time ago. It still runs though 300,000 miles and still kicking. Motor and Trans hasn't been gone through yet. The A/C hasn't ever had to be charged either. That car is blessed.

I want to put coil overs and ladder bars on mine. I am in the process of building another motor for my 73'bird I am interested in the new Wenzler Super Chief heads that flow up to 400cfm and will fit a 2.30 in. 1.88 ex. valve. You can see them at www.krepower.com (http://www.krepower.com) they rock. My friend Bobby has a set of the E-brock heads with a warrior intake and 1050 dominator in his Tempest. He just needs to put his roller cam in it. He is only running a little 490lift hydralic cam right now and it is overkill having those bad ass heads and intake with that tiny cam. But it still runs good in his 3800lb Tempest. Man we need to hook up and hang out there aren't to many of us around.haha

Stantamer, I see you have 10" rims on all of your tires. I think that my tires are rolling up on the edges because they are on 8" rims. Southsides hook hard at the track, I have seen that but everyone says the same thing, they are not for the street. The Caltrax is a nice set up, I just need to find out the preloads for each side. I have 90/10's up front, don't have the Moroso spring, I did have them on my old black T/A, they where nice. I have fiberglass rear leafsprings in the rear like Superstockers run, that is part of the pain in trying to get the rearend set up. I am going to try a pair of 28X13.5 E/T streets next week, they are on a 10" rim from a friend, they have the wrong offset but it will be a good test to see if I just need a bigger tire or not.

Oh Yeah, well my brothers friend knows a friend who knows a friend who has a fast car too. For every Tenth of a second is approx. a car length so if I just ran "only" a second faster that would "only" be about 10 car lengths. I said at least a second anyway and that was with my super mild 400ci. The 455ci is way faster and you don't have a clue.

I am not crying about my car being to heavy or everyone else to slow. I am trying to explain that my car is not some full blown race car. Yes, all of the interior is out of it but bucket seats. But it still weighs 3460lbs so it is not like I have some big advantage. It just runs good. Some of you are making it out that I am picking on "stock cars" and that is not the case. It really dosen't matter to me what someones car has done to it. I like to race Win, Lose, or Draw. No excuses and no complaints. But if you still think of it as being a race car don't race it I guess.

First of all you have my cars mixed up. The 68'bird has a 400ci motor and weighs atleast 3600lbs and will ATLEAST run 11's. The 73'Bird is the one without interior and weighs 3460lbs and has a 455ci. motor and runs better than 11's. Sounds like you are complaining about motor sizes now "it's not my fault you went that route" Ford makes a 460ci. Anyway I will be happy to get a race going with you. Mine has 87cc E-heads, Victor intake, 850+Holley, 3.42 gears, 28"tall tires, I have a bottle as well, but still have traction problems as well without the bottle. How did you get a 1.4X 60ft out of yours, do you still have leaf springs? What size and type of tire do you use? I am going to probably buy 10" rims and a 28X10.5W slicks, they are 11" on the ground. I have Caltrax right now, but they aren't helping enough...I need some more tunning on them.

KiwiGT the reason MOST of these 389ci+ engines run so slow is because Pontiac saw it fit to only have heads that flow as good as a stock 87-93 Stang head. Try and fead 400ci+ with a head that flows 170-180cfm and a 155CC runner... You Mustang people are very lucky with all of the designs and choices out there in heads! Seriously!

Look the only way a stock mustang with a 90 shot would run 12.80 is with my car pushing it. The 68'bird is practically stock. Like I said it only has a 490 lift cam and a factory cam is 469 lift. heads=stock
2400stall=about 800 to 1000stall over stock

Performer Rpm intake=2nd to lowest performance intake that edelbrock makes.

That makes sense to me. I will try and finish my car by then. Run the best stuff you have that is fine with me. I wouldn't want it any other way. But for the record I built this motor not intending on running much more than 11's (in 68'firebird). My other car (73'firebird)is getting the all out treatment. But I can't afford to build them both that radical. I know 11's are easy to get into, just look what I did to my motor. It is a very mild low budget motor in the 68'bird. Just curious, does Wes have the 94'ish (I think)Mustang, Black (with primer on the quarter panel) with a Blower?

I would much rather that. But it will take longer to get it ready the 68'bird is running I'm just working on the body and paint. I know what you mean! Between my dad and I we have 3 on going projects. A white 89 that runs pretty good, a maroon 89 that's the beater until we get more time and $$$ to paint and make faster. And a black 93 sitting on jackstands that we hope to have running low 10's or high 9's by the first part of next year. Cutting corners always comes back to bite you in the ass, eventually. Come on Lottery, papa needs some faster mustangs!!!!

Yeah, I remember the good old days working at Mobil and living at home with my parents. I had no bills just money(not much money I was working at Mobil lol) to blow on my car. Now I make alot more money. But, I am Married with a mortgage, car payment, creditcard bills, one kid and one on the way and my wife doesn't work (just spends my money). You see what can happen in 8yrs. Word to the wise "Tits and Tires they all cost the same". It is like I have 4 hot rods and one on the way.LOL You are lucky though at least your dad gets into your car with you. StangTamer, I don't know how oldyouare, but back in the day, there were some guys that had hard running pontiacs, just curious if you knew of them, they were a family two brotherws and a Dad. The Parkers. Can't remember there first names, I never knew them personally. The brothers were out at the street races pretty regularly. Last car they had that I remember is a Z28 with a pontiac motor in it. Ran 10's. I think they still have it.

You know Tony Thorn had an old firebird he used to race out at the street races. He had a chevy motor in it though.

Yeah, I know the parker brothers. I bought a rearend off of there dad. It was a silver 77' or 78' Trans Am. That car ran really hard for being stock Pontiac parts. He ran 11.80's on the motor and 10.60's on the bottle. The big kicker was that it was all pontiac FACTORY parts 455 with a #64 heads, cast iron headers, cast iron intake, Quadrojet carb, and a factory RAM AIR III cam, 3.42 gears. It rolled around at a smooth idle and was a money making sleeper.
I don't remember them having a Z28 you might of mistaked it for the Trans Am. But they did have a Nova with a Pontiac motor in it. That is why I run pontiacs because they make the best street car and you don't have to make them all radical to run hard. You can bust off good numbers all day and not have to shift them over 5200RPM. That helps the motor last a long time.
