View Full Version : What is a good 'music making' program/software?

I am looking for something that I can use to add a beat or digital instrument sounds to some words...anything out there that does this?

I've played around with ACID before ... it's pretty cool.

Acid Pro is pretty good but was pretty complicated to use the last time I played around with it (two or three years ago).

A program I used with some success was MixMan Pro (http://www.mixman.com/). It had sorta a virtual pair of turntable's with buttons all aruond the turntable. You would program a beat or track of music and click on that button to play the selected item. You could mix, fade, all kinds of stuff.

Ya, Chris added earlier in the week and I think it was an excellent idea. I've been thinking about suggesting it myself for quite some time but never got around to it.

Let me know what you decide on Shawn. I've been thinking about getting into mixing some music myself :D

I was told that I had a good voice this weekend, guess I got a big head now, and I decided to mess around with it..hehe

Let me know what you decide on and how it works out. I might dig into my warez library and install the programs I got and start playing around with it some.

I've got a program called Making Waves Audio that really is limitless.

Acid Pro and MixMan are great for mixing samples together but you have to have the samples to begin with.

With Making Waves you can start with any single sound (a bass drum hit, or snare hit for example) and you tell the program when to make that sound, whether or not it loops, etc.

You definately have to be a bit more musically and rythmically inclined but it's cool.

Cakewalk is what I use... pretty intuitive.
