View Full Version : Ennis SUCKS!!

Is anybody else as pissed about the way last night ended as I am? As far as I knew - last night was supposed to be a "test and tune" and today was the races where all the guys w/ their "race cars" were supposed to be at? It was pretty damn pathetic to be waiting in line for over an hour - just to see the "race cars" running laps down the track.
Then they close early after some no driving guy in a silver LS1 Z28 decided to play bouncing car off the retaining walls. From what I hear, he was full full on the gas until the moment of impact. It's amazing to think what letting off the gas probably would have done for that poor guy.
Anyways - I'd definitely have to say I'm whole heartedly disappointed in the way the track was run last night - not that it really matters.. But c'mon!! 1 pass in 3 hours?? Jeeez! I was tempted to go as for my money back or maybe a discount to run at their last event of the year next w/e... But odds are, that wouldn't have happened. They would've claimed it was out of their hands.. blah blah blah. ~ I'm just sick of the "race cars" being catered too.. Friday nights used to be about street cars - well, prolly a 90% / 10% split between the street cars and race cars...

BTW - I managed to finally squeeze an 11 second pass outta the white bitch. Only an 11.98 though.. Spun so I got outta gas too much and then it bogged. Ooopsy.

shawn- then come on out to Hallsville on sundays then. they're open from 12-6 and just running TnT. or friday night from 5:30-12.
just ask wes(wa 2 fst) how well the track was hooking when him and his buddies came down.
and was that 11 sec. pass on motor?

Yea.. I might go out there. It's just downhill though :( .. Although I can compare to my previous times I've run out there before ;) .
And yes.. My 11.98 blah run was on motor... Prolly had an 11.8 in it w/ a better launch and I jacked up the f/p some.

So they were letting a few race cars make hot laps and the street guys waited, or were there were tons of race cars there as well as street cars
One pass in three hours is unacceptable. I don't see how they can stay in business if they keep doing that.

you damn dallas peeps and yall damn downhill comments. it starts and finishes on the same elevation. just has a dip inbetween :D
what mph was that at? looks like i'm about a 1/2 sec. behind you my friend. hopefully that'll change sooner than later. :)

There weren't many race cars - perhaps 30 or so... Maybe a little more. But I think they were just running 1/8 mile times and bracket racing at that! Apparently had some kind of impromptu money race going on ~ so maybe this is what got them all the extra passes?? In any case - we all paid to race... We all should've been given the opportunity to.

On the flat local track it was 115.6mph ;) ... Don't forget, w/ the flip of a switch I get another 10 or so mph - as well as an additional second  . So you, my friend... are now 1 1/2 secs. slower. Drive thru please :D

we were standing right next to the lanes, both cars took off, and the silver camaro just started spinning, then a little white smoke came off the back tires, back end slid out SLOWLY, very gracefully, he never let off the gas, we thought he was going to do a full spin, then he went straight into the wall and when he made impact the front of his car came up like he was sitll on the gas. all i know is if he let off it early there is no way in hell he would have wrecked. sucks for sure
good to meet some of y'all last night!
here's the camaro.

I've about had with Ennis' bullshit. I waste over an hour each way driving out there to sit there for 4 or 5 hours for a few passes. I did that crap a few weeks back and vowed I would not go out there again atleast for a LONG TIME. Screw them.
We need to build a track here in between Dallas and Ft. Worth. Dallas City Council won't allow anything, but maybe a small town in between would be willing to allow a track to help generated some tax revenue for their town. Any ideas??? We could have street night like 4 nights a week or so...

Saladbar,
How has the mph picked up with this cool air for you?
Would you be intrested in driving the lx when it's done??

Last week a guy in front of me put his 4 week old '02 into the wall for the same reason except he claimed, "I just lost controll...."
That looks pretty similar to his damage. Only shut the track down for an hour.

I haven't picked up any mph :( .. Well, maybe like .5, but not much of a gain. Got an extra 2 tenths outta my car though :) .. vs. my last time @ the track in August, @ the same mph & 60'.
Hell yea I'd love to take a spin in that beast!

Saladbar,
I would let you make a pass, maybe next year  whenever I get this car running again.
Btw why didn't you go with a 383 or 401? how much more would it have been?

Actually.. I'm ripping into the motor again here soon.. Getting tired of all the pesky heads/cam LS1's outrunning my ass.. That and the fact that I think I spun a rod bearing last night. Got on it once and the oil pressure went dipped to 20psi... got back out of it and it rose back to 60... Thought to myself: "that was weird".. and floored it again - went to 80 and thought all was well.... Till I got off the gas. The pressure dropped back to zero and I killed the motor. Only to have the lights turn off since they're ignition controlled due to the DRL's.. Put the key back in the "on" position and the motor started up again.. AAACK! Killed it again and this time used the manual light switch like a normal person. Coasted to a stoplight and had to restart it once it turned green but made a quick exit off the main road onto a side street. Course it all happened pretty quick and like any other person I was hoping for a bleeding lifter or something simple. It's still possible the 0 oil pressure reading was due to my oil pump drive shaft or plastic keeper breaking - but I wouldn't bet on it. I pulled the pcm fuse, which kills the ignition and fuel, and tried to prime the motor to see if I could build up some oil pressure that way. It didn't work either :( . Calmed down a bit and started it... oil pressure rose to 40 psi @ idle.. But now I got a snapping noise coming from in the motor. Never have heard anything like it - but I know it's internal... Just gonna pull it out and take a looksee...
If the crank is damaged I'll probably end up going w/ a 383 crank - which w/ my .040 overbore would be like a 385-386... Definitely gonna clean up the heads and install some stiffer valve springs... Planning on slapping in a solid roller in the spring. Mine are good up to .600 lift, but I was getting a wee bit of valve float on friday night @ 6600rpms... So that's only gonna get worse. Plus it's a lot easier to put valve springs on off the car vs while they're on it.
And to answer your question.. It would've been another $600 for a 383 (crank and rods) or $1000 prolly for the 401. <- A 401 is a 396 w/ like a .060 overbore...
What's up w/ your car Mike? I thought it was nearly ready??
And you'd let me make a pass in that beast?! That'd be one hell of an honor! :)

I hear Shawn on those pesky ls1 cars:mad:
Erik(the guy doing my motor) just finished 2 lt1 that were brought to him blown up.
One was a 396, the other nearly the same I think. Both ended up making over 450rwhp I believe.
What do those heads flow?
My motor will be done soon(Erik says), I just want something similar to what Jordan had power wise. I mean it's dam impressive to me when you can 10's@130 n/a and be a street car.
My build up will very similar to the 408 in Car Craft a few months back. That motor beat the 406 chevy (622hp vs.592).
Although those heads are a little better than mine. (408 had ported vic jr's)

Is it Erik Koenig (sp?) that's building it up?
I'd be lucky if my heads flow over 250cm.. If that's what you were asking :p .. I'll have Jordon supervise my extra touchup porting though ;) .. I'd like to have 450rwhp myself. And that should be attainable w/ a solid roller cam.

Friday night was the first and last time my car will see ennis, tx again.
Someone should email them to look at this thread. I always heard their track sucked b/c of the race cars... but I didn't know it was that bad.
Where's the next 1/4 mile track... might be worth the drive.

You must be kidding, right? The motorplex makes enough money in one event to keep the track open all year. (ie: the Nationals)
This is the same thing that happens when there are a million little ricers out there too. You just don't get to make that many passes. If you can't race at Ennis, then don't. There are plenty of other tracks locally. I have been in line for hours and not even made a pass. This is what you have to put up with on a Test-n-Tune.
So, quit your bitchin'.
