So I get an instant message from a guy saying how slow my car is and blah blah whatever. Turns out he has a 97 Mustang Cobra with bolt ons and a broken tranny, he can only use 2nd and 4th gear. This is apparently enough to beat me. anyways heres some of the pre race convo with him and my gf :)

DANIEL6401: how close do you think it would be for me to race your boy straight up?

We all meet up and the Turbo prelude from that old video is out there running 11psi ready to wipe the floor with me. I'll let the video say the rest. You can underestimate the car but try and not underestimate the driver.

Well, since this is me racing, i am going to go ahead and post up that i had a bad stock maf on, along with bad o2 sensor. Although his car is pretty fast, I was pretty much running like shit. I just asked him if he wanted to race 3 races on Saturday and this is what he had to say.
DANIEL6401: saturday night we are racing again, bring whoever you want. 3 races. 1 stop, 1 1st roll, 1 2nd roll. we are getting them all on video, and we will post them up. You want to race for money, we can race for money. You think your car is faster then i guess you will show up.

I watched that and I have to raise up the B.S. flag and salute it cause there is no way those "ricer" cars would beat a bolt-on Cobra especially one with gears. If his MAF was bad, then that really fucked him over because that is what basically tells the computer to do with the engine and how it runs.

you really have no idea what you are talking about do you.. he was running a STOCK maf.. because hs C&L maf was bad.. that cobra is a solid mid 13 second car.. i have seen DOZENS of turbo preludes go low 13s with the same mods.

i had trouble with a turbo teg when my car was 3.23s and x-pipe, very very quick. 3 wide race between me, matt in his dad`s 926S porshe (?) and the turbo teg, from a 40 punch, i got pulled hard from the start, up till about 5 cars when i barely started creeping back door to door, and that took a long time to pass both, and by then the race was over. Dont count out boost+roll+wrongwheeldrive.

I heard chris got much faster, maybe i will have to spray to stay out this next time!:eek:

my car is running really really rich right now, i'm down some #s too but its not an excuse, thats what i brought to run that night thats what I ran. Maybe after I finish tuning my car then we can run again and you can put your pullies and CAI back on. considering we were so close the first one of us to free up some power will pull on the other. I'll let you know when I get my car tuned, I have a lot of school and other things going on right now. Good runs.

You must not have a clue. Go and read his post again. It says he had "a BAD STOCK MAF." Stock, Cobras can run mid 13's with a good driver. With exhaust and gears, I'd say pretty damn close to 12's if not high 12's with good driver and traction.

First of all correction on the boost of the 240. Spikes to 13-14 psi and drops quickly to 9-10 psi. Hence...variable...boost.....cuz homemade boost controllers suck . ;p.

I'll have to say the Cobra probably was running a bit worse than usual that night because I ran him again a couple days later after he had 'fixed' up some stuff. From 2nd gear (40 mph) to the end of 4th he got a nose on me. From a 1st gear (10 mph) to the end of 4th, he had more than a car length on me. I don't remember him pulling as much the night of the vids.

I'll be glad to run again sometime in the near future. :) Perhaps I'll have some stable boost next time.

Oh, and I apologize for getting in the way of some of the filming. Didn't know my ass was so big. hehehe.

I go to school from about 12-3 every day, and nobody can work with me on my hours. I am looking, but not having too much luck. I had spray on, but had a problem with one of my heads, so i had to take it off. Wish i still had it.

And regardless of wtf the turnout of the races are, the main purpose of this was to prove the point that the stang was not as fast as he claimed he was. We did not go out with the intent of actually beating them in the races. dur. All in all, all the cars that raced were around the same range of speed.

When i say piece of shit, im referring to looks. I dont think my car is ugly. Although a 93 Sentra i believe is on the other side of the spectrum. No, my car is not always broken, but i would think that after 100k miles of racing, it would start to have a few problems. I would think most people would agree that a 93 Sentra is a piece, unless alot of money is put into it.

Somehow our s/c prelude blew his engine. He says he made a mistake and shifted from 3rd to second when he was racing a lightning, but he contradicted himself by saying he was shifting easy just driving. He said this to 2 different people. We think he up'd the boost and had a little boom bitch. If you want to run, im sure my friend in the turbo prelude would race, and i would race too, maybe put a few extra things on my car before the race tho. :D

no he guy in the s/c lude did miss shift from 3 down to 2nd he didnt up boost on anything it was at a stop light with a lightening... and gabe what kind of car you drive and mods just curious you seem to be nicer than daniel the ass over here... :D

it cracks me up how they assume i changed my pulley to run 9psi. no it was 6psi. I was racing a lightning starting at 60 on the fwy, i got to 90 and had 2.5 carlengths on him to which i deemed the race over so i went to 4th slowly, but it slid into 2nd somehow real smooth. I don't know how it did i shift palm out b/c the 5th gen tranny is really easy to do that on. I know countless people who when shifting fast hit 2nd instead of 4th. It was just one of those random mistakes. oh and the real irony, i pulled my car over immediately about 10 feet behind a broken down lightning. LOL :)

Oh and il'l bet you 500 dollars if you want to come measure the pulley on my car and see what size it is lol. yeah i was only on 6psi sorry. at 9psi i would of been making 260-280 to the wheels to which you would have no hope in hell. when i was racing you it was a flat 220 to the wheels in a 2900lb car which is why your 280-300rwhp in your 3500lb mustang was right next to me.

I'll throw some truth out there... guy in the prelude LC pulled about a car on me *it's on video* when I had my CAI and the 99 exhaust fix. He was only on 6 lbs. I dyno'd 305 with that setup btw. You all should cut him some slack... his car isn't riced out and I've seen it hand plenty of LS1's and mustangs their ass. Guy... PM me... we need to set up another race between alex and you... he wants to see how the gears are working for him on the street.
