View Full Version : What was the guideline for protein intake?
I thought I saw somewhere that it was something like 1 gram of protein for each lb of body weight. Does that sound right? If so that would be like 170 grams of protein a day for me.
Also what is that for? Gaining? if so then what is it for jsut maintining?
Thanks

1 gram per pound of projected bodyweight is a good guidline, I've heard it as low as .85 g/lb. However, if you are a hardgainer I'd suggest ingesting 1.25 to 1.5 grams per pound. Protien is your friend. :)

another thing to consider is the bioavailability of whatever you're eating (how easily your body absorbs it)
boiled egg whites are about the best there is for that...

should i drop protien when cutting up? what type of protien is best for cutting up and what type is best for bulking up? after months of kind of running in the dark, i'm finally learning some and feeling and SEEING a difference! i can't stop now, the more i see the more i want to work out.
