I have a 6 month old daughter that is smaller than a normal 6 month old. My wife and I thought it wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but decided to go ahead and take her to see a pediatrics doctor to be sure. When she went in for her 6 month set of shots she was in the 20% for height (down from 50% at 3 months) and had only gained 4 ounces over 3 months (not the normal 3 or 4 lbs.). My wife just called after getting home from the doctor and it is potentially bad news. The doctor did his measurements and decided it was a case of failure to thrive. He said after tests he would better be able to give answers, but that it could be a case of dwarfism or other problems. He also after checking the soft spots on her head said the top one is nearly closed up or maybe all the way. That is OK if the child is 15 months old and our baby girl is 6 months old. The soft spots enable the brain to grow as the babies head grows a lot in the early stages. If it is closed he said there would be multiple surgeries, but he is hoping it is not yet closed and we are going to have a cat scan done next week to find out for sure. Please pray with our family and our church that God will take care of this situation. He is in charge and can do anything, so pray with us that He will act now on our behalf.

Thanks,

Lee

Everything will be ok. The Doctor may say one thing, but the Bible says another. God has your little girl covered.;)

Her name is Marianne Grace.

GREAT NEWS: We just got the report back from the Doctor and all is well. There is not a single problem with her skull or her brain development! The issue of the Failure to Thrive is also becoming a smaller issue as Marianne has gained a 1/2 a pound in the last 5 days, when she had only gained 3-4 ounces over the last 3 months. Praise the Lord and thanks for all your prayers!
