i have a 1999 ford explorer limited. it has a powered subwoofer in the back cargo pannel area, dose anyone know what size it is, i assume its a 8 or a 10 inch. i was sondering if i could switch it with an aftermarket sub with no other alterations and would it sound good or even better???

Should be an 8". I don't know what ohm load it is. You want to replace it with the same thing. JL Audio has 2 enclosures that replace the factory unit. Each uses a 10" driver and will require more power than the POS factory amp can deliver.

i just heard it was an 8 but i also hear that its verry hard to alter the audio system in that automobile. i hear that if one componet is not factory the entire setup will not work, this info came from my friend who has one just like mine. i want to put 5 monitors and a dvd in the car. i think this may be a little more complex than i thought, i wanted to change only the sub and add the rest i described, can it be that easy?

You can add a DVD and screens as a standalone system and it does not affect the factory system. Also, if you want a real sub, you can add an amp, stealthbox, and sub without affecting the factory system.

by adding the seperate system for the mobil video system then i would need to install extra speakers to play the sound from my video correct??? im trying to make the install look as factory as possible.
