View Full Version : X vs. Lane
On the highway home from Ennis.
First run: 30-40 punch. We go, I sat and spun(had taken off my slicks) - he leaves me.
Second run: 50ish punch - Take off, I walk the X hard :D. I finally let off around 100+ cuz it was ugly. ;)
Third run: 50ish again. No honk, I hit it early, back off, he hits it, then I do again and he gets 1/2 car or so all the way to 120+. I just about lost hearing in my left ear due to his exhaust.. Pretty even - great race. :)
This Yank PT4200 likes the highway!! :D. Of course weighing in at a scant 3350(with me in the car!) helped a little. :)

First run:
1.9 60' - typical Ennis.. 12.4 @ 111.9
Second run:
About dead-heated a turbo Regal that had just run a 11.47. Timeslips for both of us - 17.0's and 17.1's... more  Don't know how they screwed that up so much. I'm sure my best run of the night. The Regal driver was convinced we both ran 11s. Who knows.
Next run against the same Regal - my 12.11 @ 111 to his 11.85 where I got my best 60' of the night(on paper) - 1.67.
Next two runs were spinning 12.2's @ 111.9 with 1.79 and 1.84 60's. :mad::mad:
DA for last night: +2500 ft
Bring on the cold weather and 11.6's :)

ok lane what the hell is DA? i know it has something to do with the conditions but what?

Density Altitude: Ennis is at 550 elevation, but the hot temps and high humidity, low barometric pressure cause the elements to be the same as +2500 elevation. The reason cars in the panhandle of Texas run so much slower than us. Same for Colorado, NM, etc. And, why the guys at Houston(sea level - 0) usually run so well.
Without getting into the technical aspect - which I don't know well enough to explain. :) This will help - http://www.usatoday.com/weather/wdenalt.htm. It's in term of aircraft performance, but it also very much applies to us as well.
Now, a car spraying is a different story. The cold temps of NOS create ideal intake and combustion temps and performance. Making the motor more efficient. Another way NOS is cheating.. ;)
Example: Last summer with the stock converter, street trim and DR's I was running 13.0's and 13.1's in +2500 DA. When it cooled off in October with the DA in the +600's or so, I was running 12.7's with the EXACT same set-up. Only change was in the weather. 1/8th mile times were 8.39 - 8.4's in the heat and 8.1 in the cold. For my car, it seems each +1000 of DA is worth a little over a tenth at the track.
My only 11 second pass was made last Feb. in -600 DA. Yes, that's mineshaft conditions. HRP that same day guys were running unbelievable times. Their DA was -1000. About as good as it gets. Conditions at the track that day at Ennis was temps in the 40's, humidity in the 30's-40's and baro at 30.+.
Hope this makes sense.

Yeah, I know what you mean. They way my clutch was smelling on our run! How much HP was I losing?
I mean seriously, there's got to be some serious HP to smoke clutch at over 130mph! ;)
We'll hit it again after I get my clutch, gears, exhaust and 100shot. :p

I just bought some 3.73s. I think they are perfect balance of street/strip gears.

JC:) you sure are talking ALOT of smack for someone that had to have a built motor with every bolt on available to pull 1 car by 140 on a bolt on turbo 6 banger in 100* heat:) bring that sh1t on in a cool Fall night:)
actualy.. she said " damn.. it took a built motor V8 to pull 1 car on your BOLT on little import during the 100* heat?? maybe he needs to sell his car and get a civic!"

Aren't all motor's built?
D. I'm just having fun man, don't get mad. It's all gravy baby. You can have fun at my expense when I race you in your conditions:
Midnight in Febuary, with 1 gallon of really high octane gas.
