New times at Denton!

First of all, let me say thanks to Denton County Dragway for the match races. I thought that was a lot of fun racing Lance Foster's coupe!

First run of the night, I launch around 3000 rpm. I granny shifted all of the gears, got sideways and had to let out at 3/4 track.

The run:

60': 1.484 :eek:
330: 4.451
1/8: 7.085
MPH: 84.684

I was pretty encouraged by that run, knowing that I had a lot left in it!

I experimented with different suspension settings, finally getting the car to go somewhat straight without having to let up.....

Best ET of the night came during my match races. I got to race Lance's coupe (Zack driving) in a best 2/3 shootout. First pass was the best ET of the night. I won this race despite my poor reaction time (.892 on a pro tree).

On the second pass, the car laid over out of the hole. It turned out that the blower stripped all of the teeth off the belt, and the blower didn't make much boost. Needless to say, I lost. I went back to the pits to thrash on the car and put a new belt on in the 20 minutes between rounds.

Last round: This was the best MPH of the night, and I was banging off of the rev limiter in 3rd for the last 50 feet or so.

60': 1.587 (not so good... spun pretty bad)
330': 4.522
ET: 6.883
MPH: 106.985 :eek:

On a side note, I was getting ready to race Ozzie in Jeremy's red cobra and about had a heart attack. I did a burnout, and all of the sudden the engine started a loud tapping noise. I thought that I dropped a valve or threw a rod, but all it turned out to be was a shredded blower belt. It put a nice dent in the hood, disconnected the electric water pump connection, and then rattled around under the hood, making the tapping noise. I had thought that I had made a multithousand dollar mistake... boy, was I relieved!

IMO, I could run low 6's the way it sits with a C4 auto and transbrake. According to my datalogs my grannyshifts take 0.5-1 second each.

Yeah your car definately has more in it, with an auto. it would probaly pick up real close to 1/2 sec. It's gonna be nasty when you get everything you got on there and the auto.

i totally agree. the car is hiding alot of time and mph. the first thing i see when i walk up to the car is andrew smirking, and handing me a long, ragged strip of what was left of his blower belt! :eek: i was thinking, "goddamn!" then when billy showed me the remains of belt #2 *smooth as silk on both sides*.... a crazy fast car that just needs to be shaken down.

That's great Andrew. Keep the 5spd! It will be quicker with the auto and if track is all you are going to do then go auto..... Otherwise the 5spd is much more enjoyable. That's what I believe anyway. I use to get tired of reaming down the highway with my C4 and then when someone pulled up beside me I was always thinking "If we stop, I'm going to kill you on the launch and from there on!" but it never happens that way when you are cruising down the highway. Now, I just drop from 5th to 3rd (up to 70mph) and GET IT AWWWWN!

Congrats Andrew!! With those numbers it should be a good race, with my car n/a of course!!:p I'm sure there is alot more in your ride once you work out some of the kinks. I see some mid 6s with the 5-speed and low 6's high 5's with an auto.
