What do you think happens to your soul after death? I know I have posted this before but I just want to get some more responces in the religion corner.

I believe it goes strait to heaven or strait to hail. I do not believe in pergatory.

281R is correct in his statement above. Your SPIRIT will go to heaven or to hell immediately.
"for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
2 Corinthians 5:7-9

Well, I have a different Idea.
I think there is a Paradice(sp) and a hades.
That the saved, and the lost go to, until judgement day.
Jesus said, " today you will be with me in paradice"
But I dont think that its the same as heaven, because Jesus told Mary not to touch Him, cause He had not yet returned to the Father.
Rev 20:15 talks about Death, and Hades giving up the dead that were in them, and be cast into the lake of fire. (hell)
I have more scripture some where suporting this idea.
I dunno, I may be completely wrong, so I try to keep an open mind and all ways be willing to learn or change my belief
if the bible shows something different.

I believe your spirit goes to either Paradise or Hades.
Read the story of Lazarus and the Rich Man in the Gospels. I believe it's in Matthew
You haven't been judged but when you die you do have an idea where you're headed.

Here is a completely different view. I normally don't talk about this to anyone since I really haven't heard anyone else believe this. Maybe someone can label it for me.
I really don't believe there is a hell or a heavan in the sense that most people think. I think your actions on earth are the result of your environment and you aren't held accountable for that for eternity.
I do believe in life after death, but its something we can't really comprehend. We're more of a concious energy than anything else. I don't even know if we will remember our lives here or what. I don't know if anything happens after that. I think re-incarnation is possible, but dont really have any evidence for it.
While I hold this belief, which I have no idea where I got it from, I don't know how I can accept Christ and all the things in the Bible. Why get saved when there is no heavan in the first place?
Im afraid that I won't realize I am wrong until its too late though.

This is for MadKat and JC and anyone else interested of course.
Paradise: A holding place for the saved prior to the ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven (the completion of our atonement). When Jesus said today you will be with me in paradise, that is a true statement as paradise was not yet emptied but soon would be! Refer to II Peter for supporting scripture. When Jesus conquered death, hell and the grave he led those in paradise home to glory (heaven).
Hades: Temporary holding place for the LOST. In Revelation 20, speaking of the Great White Throne Judgement, the departed lost souls are brought before God in judgement, then to be flung into the ETERNAL lake of fire which burns for ever and ever.
NOW POST-DEATH, BURIAL, AND RESURRECTION:
Here we are today (praise the lord) after Jesus and Calvary. When a believer dies today they go straight to heaven.
Scripture to study (many many more):
Philippians 1:23
For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
--Christ is in heaven on the right hand of God!
2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
--Where is the Lord? In heaven!
Acts 7:55-56
But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
--Stephen before he died looked up into heaven and saw Jesus calling him home!
I hope this helps!

Hey Lee, you sound like an Amillennialist. Is that your stance?

Here is the way I see things coming to pass.
1. I die
2. I go straight to heaven
3. I am there through the tribulation/great tribulation
4. Christ comes in the battle of Armegeddon and conquers the enemy
5. Christ establishes His kingdom on the new earth for his 1000 year reign (and we will reign with Him - AMEN!)
6. Toward the end of the 1000 reign SATAN is loosed for a short time to deceive the untold millions of people (some of which are rebellious) Rev. 20:7-8
7. Some are deceived
8. God shall cast (once and for all) SATAN into the laske of fire along with all the lost of the ages. Rev 20:10-15
9. Rev. 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
This is the final step as this is where all who are saved will spend eternity!
NO I DON'T DENY THE WORD OF GOD AS AN AMELLINIALIST WOULD! Everyone here should sit down with a good dispensational book, such as dispensational truth by Clarence Larkin. It is tough reading (even for scholars) so go slow. It has excellent charts and pictures laying out past, present and future events step by step. The book is said to be the best and is used in many theology classes in colleges all over the world.
In Christ,

That sounds very similar to the Wiccan beliefs. The belief is that everything, and everyone is part of The One (God) (an aside, Wiccan's also have a Goddess and a God, but they are not Creator beings. They are basically equivalent to Christ, and The Holy Spirit, in the Holy Trinity.) They do believe in re-incarnation as well, as the belief is all of the energies are simply part of the whole energy, and energy is a constant and is never destroyed. You, or your soul/spirit/energy can choose to remain with The One, or you may come back in a different age with no memory of your past life (lives), other than deeply buried subconscious memories (basic life lessons, strong emotional memories, etc), which can be extracted through something like hypnosis, but they are usually passed to you in the form of dreams.
Some interesting stuff. I did a lot of soul searching about 7 or 8 years ago, and read up on a lot of different religions, and even practiced a few for a time. Wicca was one of them, obviously.
