We've gotta get 10 peeps to get a discount on the jump. We've got 8 so far, so we only need 2 more. TMA and I are going to Skydive Dallas. I believe with the discount, the jump will be $169. Post up if your interested. We have to turn in a $50 deposit for any jumpers by monday.

Wait, so it's $169 per person with a $50 deposit, or is that for the whole group?

I'm under the impression it's $50 down + 119 on jump day per person.

Damn, I have no idea why I thought this was bungee jumping, I was gonna say that's pretty expensive, but for skydiving that doesn't sound bad.

Not a bad deal. I know when I did my first tandem, it was right at $170, and that was back in 1995. Get video if you do it!

I remember it being $170 also when I did it about 3 years ago. Initially, I though the video was expensive, but if you don't go back, it's a memory that you have for a lifetime. As excited as I was after the jump, I sure though I would have gone back a lot sooner than now. You never know when you'll get another chance.

I might go with y'all to hang out and see a bunch of people up there that I haven't seen in ages. But I won't tandem, I've jumped a few times. :p

Got burned out. I was shooting team video and tandem video, I'd end up at the drop zone from like 8am-10pm. It paid good money but in the end I just got tired of it. I still have all my gear and stuff, been looking to get back in but it's so damn expensive.

Some things came up and they kept coming up over the last couple years. I'm still interested in doing that someday. The gear seems to be the most expensive part of it. Jumping isn't so costly after you've had training. I know they used to have some special on fridays where it was like $13 or $17 a jump on that day. Don't know if they still do. I guess if I get serious about it, you can probably give me some good tips.

Yeah, jump tickets are like $17 now. But think... a decent day of jumping will cost you $100! If I could get back in shooting tandems, I'd consider it, but there are too many video guys now.

Is that for a tandem or a solo jump?

If it's solo then I am VERY interested, let me know :)

I just looked at their website - looks like you're talking about a tandem deal?

What if we did the 1/2 day course or whatever and did the AFF?

Jedi

I've gone 3 times (tandem) and it was just as fun, but AFF sounds cool if it's not much more. Downside is that AFF requires at least 2 instructors per student and I dunno how many instructors they have. With doing 10 tandems, that's a LOOOONG day already. Even longer if it's AFF.

First AFF jump costs $300 now. That's almost double a tandem. Plus there's no guarantee that you'll jump the day of the class, esp if you have 10 ppl there. If you don't plan on pursuing it after this, I'd definitely recommend a tandem jump. Let someone else make the important decisions. My first few AFF jumps were pretty nerve wracking.

Who says I won't do it again? :p

That may be something I do on my own, with a group a discounted rate, maybe tandem will be ok.

I'll let you know for sure tomorrow, but count me as a "probably."
