97 Cobra vs. 01 SS [Archive] - DFWstangs Forums

I was coming back from somewhere in Duncanville when i ended up behind a white ls1 z28 and a red ls1 ss with black wheels. We exchanged revs then we got to a straigtaway. I honked 3 times and we were off. I pulled about a 2-3 cars, maybe a little more and held it the entire way. :D That was the z28. Next was the ss. We did the same then took off and i jumped in front by about a car, car and a half, and stayed there. We slowed down, and talked, he said he had headers, exhaust, lid, and cams. Anyone know what kind of numbers that car would make? It was a good night.

Probably pretty good numbers with "cams". Much more than a regular LS1 with just a "cam".

Red SS with Black Grand Sports ? if it was I think it was a guy named Chad he has a nice car, the T1 cam and headers but he has some tuning issues. Im pretty sure he put down less than 350 to the wheel, with those mods he should be right around 360-365.

Well, whether or not it was slow doesnt really bother me. I beat it and put a mark in the win column for Ford. :D I have 373's, BBK long tubes, off road h, pro 5.0, and nx wet shot.

Nice to hear that you ran into a couple of good runs! I would think that guy would be a lil bit quicker with headers and cams on that car ... oh well probably didn't know how to drive. At least they were cool about it most idiots would get pissed, whine saying that they missed a gear, and show you the finger and take off .... You should take your car to the track sometime and see how fast it goes ...

Funny thing is that we went a couple of times goin down the highway. First time i missed a shift, second time he missed the same, and finally the third time we both got it. After it was done we shot the peace sign and took off. Nice guys though. On the way home we see this 4 door new civic with NOS stickers who does a ricer fly by and puts his hazerds on.:mad: I hate people like that.

I ran AL-P vette from a roll(not good for me) I had a full tank to his empty tank. He put 2 cars on me. Maybe next time let him fill up and me with a empty tank:mad: (160lbs weight diff.).

What color is your 97?

Hey Mike- I dont kow how stock Al P's vette was when you raced it. Last Tuesday night I raced a pretty stock Vette Vert and put about a car on him, From the line to about 90 give or take a few. so we should be pretty close from the line. I also raced a 98 z28 with lid, K&N, Borla and beat it from the line, although it was pretty close he was at my door handle almost the whole way down. That was with just my K&N filter.

Yeah Nick it was. He wanted to race me so we could see what kind of difference the mods make on my car when Im finished. I really expected him to pull me or at least to come back around me on the top end but he never did, I got him by a little more than a half a car. He still has the dr's, but so do I. I just wish I could get my launch down. He does have a quick car, and he takes pretty damn good care of it also. I only put down 319/339 with the lid, no filter. I now have the lid and filter (the lid I did the 319 with was borrowed in case anyone gets confused, but I now have my own) and alot more to come......;)

If you think your car is slow, then why are you throwing revs out asking for a run. I bet you throw revs out to anything like Civics, Integras, Bikes, even the 16 year olds at the bus stop hoping that they think you are cool. :o Anyways, don't rev anything you come up to it just makes you look like a punk. Nah, Ididn't take the pitcure. SOme girl at Power Hosue racing did when I was a IS30 meet . She was taking pics of everyones car. THis was just on thier server and as you know this forum only supports links to images.

Dude you need to quit the BS, You DIDNT spray the white Z but you DID spray the Red SS. whatever, thats b.s and you know it. You told me in an earlier post that you were spraying a 100 shot. if you think you can beat a stock LS1 with no spray, I Will race you, All I have is a lid and a k&n air filter. I gaurantee you wont touch me. And dont try the old lets do it one more time My a/c was on crap with me.

I was stock THREE weeks ago when we were SUPPOSED to race...:p . I cant wait around forever :D . actually I got the filter a couple of weeks ago and the the Lid came in on Wednesday of last week. The Headers will be on by tomm. night at the latest and the Cam I was told By speedtek/ Fastech will be here by Thursday, although I dont plan on them having time to install it before this weekend ;) . So yeah, If I dont pull you by AT LEAST three cars Im gonna sell it........J/K :D

Not that we mind, its just when some of you actually (finally) win against one you act like you have the fatest car in the world all of a sudden....wonder why :confused:.
I dont mind losing to a blown or sprayed cobra, from the factory its rated at 10 more horsepower than my car. Makes me wonder why it needs a blower or a bottle in order to make it close. ;)

Dude I am far from being the fastest Cobra out there, hell I am not even on the fastest list here:( Back in the day tho (late 97) When LS1's were stock and I all I had was gears (4:56's) I owned mostly all the LS1's!!! Now fast forward to 2002 and all LS1's have cams, heads, long tube headers, N2O, and gears. Most 32v Cobras do not make that much power with heads and cams, not only that but they are expensive (1000. for cams and that does not include labor or tools) 2k for a Cam(s) change and for what 30HP not even worth it.:confused: That si why we put blowers and N2O just so we can keep up in the TQ dept. cause in the end TQ wins races...'H':cool:

With those Gears you should have owned quite a few of things, short distance. I have nothing against the blowers and N20, Actually like it.

You seem to think I am avoiding you but honestly I have been really busy. i have nothing to lose racing ls1's since you guys think your cars are so much faster lol. I have found that some seem to run better than others:confused:

The ones that have beaten me by at least 2 cars had bolt ons and exhaust. Stock for stock vs. fbodys I can hold my own just fine:D
