thats just brings a warm fuzzy to my heart :) when harvey's body finishs painting my xr she'll look just like that, except with BBS wheels, no hood louvers and "merkur" rear windows :)
i even scored the cosworth headlights and some cosworth interior trim pieces.
the XR that will be ready for Denton is the red one featured in my "rally" car threads. owned by my best bud Robbie. i'm just the proud chief mechanic :)

despite being street legal cars, are you allowed to trailor in??
the car is a long as ways from denton, would be a whole lot less problematic if we could trailor it.

Would a H-pipe with no mufflers be classified as open headers? Is there going to be different slick classes( 9.0 or smaller, 10.5 or smaller etc.) or is it just any size slicks? Can I trailer it to the track just in case I blow something.

Sounds good.
I think this is the same weekend as the Buick vs. Ford shootout. Its on Saturday, and if all goes well Ill probabbly run this on Sunday :D

Would a 7.9 1/8th even come close to making it past the first round of the domestic stock?

There will not be seperate classes for different size slicks. On the extended rules it says that your car may not be tubbed. So this will cut down on tire size.
H-Pipes with no mufflers will be considered Open headers and are not permitted.
I have yet to decide if I will allow trailerd cars to compete in the classes. To me it kind of goes against street racing championships. But I can see the other side of it too. I will think about it.

The classes will be Heads-Up...first one to the finish line wins. And I think a 7.90 will be competetive in a class that does not allow power adders or slicks.

h-pipe with no mufflers is open headers???
Have you ever been to the street races???
cars on trailers would show up all the time
that doesn't mean they would win though
I saw a 70 camaro get pulled off a trailer and still losee to a Galant VR-4:eek:
i'm done

I have never heard a car with H-pipes w/o mufflers. But I have heard a car with open headers. I am just trying to keep this as true to Street as I can. If you can get by with no mufflers on H-pipes out on the street, that's cool.
I mean, I don't want there to be so many rules that the race isn't fun, but I don't want guys bringing out racecars and cleaning up. What do you guys think?

I want this to be a true street legal race. I want a person to be able to race a guy that he could meet at a stoplight. If you trailer your car to the convenient store and drive it in, I can't police that...hint hint. But we will not allow trailer cars to compete.

hey it sounds like a good deal to me. i'm not to thrilled about driving the xr up from arlington to denton, but i guess we'll just trailer it to my pad in addison and drive from there.
it sounds like allot of fun, and now i have a goal to work and get this car fully 'street' race ready :)

I think by keeping it closer to "real street" rules it will be a better race. If I see someone walk away with the victory and know I will never see the car on the street it would take away from the mystic.
I would even go as far to say that the cars need mufflers, sure you can't give them a sniffer test (although that would be way cool) keeping it as close to street legal as possible is very cool. The trailer cars have enough events to run in competetivly without diluting this single real street event.

Can I park a truck and trailer inside the gate if the car isnt on there?
DentonCoDragway
08-21-2002, 10:59 AM
That's fine with me. All the rules say is that all cars must be driven to the track if they wish to compete.

I might have to pull the blower for this event, it sounds like a blast...
Would a low 7 @ 98 be competitive in the stock class??? If not I am staying at home...
I think that the stock class cars should be driven, the modified ones need to be driven through the gates at least, and still be tagged and such... But who cares what I think right?:p

are race dumps with the caps off legal, or are you treating them the same as a h pipe w/ no mufflers?

im running straight h-pipe.. that is considered open headers.. you should change the policy..

You guys are really making this tough on me. You know what you can and cannot get away with on the streets. We are not going to have the manpower or the time to get under everyone's car and diagram the exhaust.
Cutouts will be allowed. The car must be equipped with mufflers however. I know that 90% of you guys run cutouts all the time. There is a major noise difference between cutouts and open headers.
Blue5spd

how can you alow cutouts but not h pipe only.. Last time i checked cutouts, race readys would not pass inspection.. Im tagged ne ways whats the biggie?

They didn't look. :) I had a stock muffler and cutout at the time. So I just capped it up, and it sounded stock. They didn't do a very thurough inspection. :) Since then I have cut the whole muffler off, and have an open Y with a bullit inline muffler.

all u guys that wanna trailer a car just stop at the truck stop just south of the track..unload it and drive it in...surely u have a friend who can drive the truck/trailer into the track..??
DentonCoDragway
10-09-2002, 10:53 AM
There is no rule that says you can't trailer it in. I would rather you guys trailer it to the track rather than have to call a wrecker because that sticky track snapped your axle. :D

It's getting close to time. And don't forget...the Internet car club that brings the most racers get $250.

Do you really have to have cat's in every class? If so you just got rid of 90% of your entrants.
DentonCoDragway
10-10-2002, 01:37 PM
Well I guess I am just stuck. I am trying to make this a "street" race...but nobody drives street legal cars. Most guys don't run through the mufflers...most guys don't run cats.
Maybe you guys can help me out.

tghis is easy..if u don't have a full exhaust system..u don't race...no open headers,just has to have mufflers

I can say that if this was in effect, then that would eliminate me for sure..... and I'm pretty sure that it would also leave out bsharer, Andrew, Al P, blah-blah......................
Some county's don't require a sniffer; therefor, there are a great number of us that can still get inspection WITHOUT cats. That and lazy inspectors :D. But at any rate, We are still able to get inspections on a regular basis, we still drive our rides on the street, we get speeding tickets like everyone else, and we don't receive tickets when we get pulled over for "not having cats"! If it is a must have then I understand but if you not going to enforce it then I feel that you should change it. I'm not going to participate and be DQ'd AFTER someone disputes my wins because I do not having cats.
bgnracing
10-11-2002, 08:10 AM
so in other words you think its fair to be able to open your exhaust up before the cat just because u have a late model car..?? if this is the case...open exhaust for everyone should allowed.....the way i see it,i'm being penalized for having an old car that doesn't require cats........to be honest,it doesn't really matter to me what the track does....i will run my car w/ or w/o exhaust .........kelly(bgn crew)
DentonCoDragway
10-11-2002, 09:45 AM
Here's the deal. There is only ONE exhaust rule in the Modified class...Run whatever you want. We will allow any type of exhaust in this class.
In the Sportsman Class you must have mufflers...you can run cut-outs. So, mufflers must be installed on the car regardless of whether the exhaust runs through them.
